You can't win with 5 rookies

We caught lightening in a bottle, that does not happen often...or ever

It happens only so often, a lot of time by luck.

2016 Dallas found some rookies that could step up. Zeke was a lock to be an instant impact player.
Collins was subbed in and out and Ant Brown didn't look out of place. Of course there was Prescott who was poised to take the reigns at QB.

Same Prescott the F.O. didn't think highly of, wanting guys like Lynch or Cook over him.

2005 draft was another great one, but some developed in a later stage, like Canty with the Giants/Dallas not wanting to pay him.

Edit* Obviously the above weren't close to the Landry SB run team. Just pointing out a few drafts that had rookies up and down play a decent role.

No team that isn’t rebuilding or have injury problems goes into the season counting on 5 rookies. Usually it’s 1-2 starters and the rest play 10-15 snaps a game.

Instead Dallas has:
Guyton
Beebe
Kneeland
Carson
Liufau

Even bigger problem is 3 of those guys are trench players and no rookies strength is ready day 1. They will likely grow into nice players but having them play crucial snaps from the jump is ridiculous.

So yes Dallas is rebuilding without saying it because they don’t want to lose your $
Rook...snook, it's team development. You doubt sustainability.

Forged in fire, came out steel. Team!

You beat me to it ... doesn't matter who the players are, Jerry Jones is in charge.
(coughing loudly) Jerry never goes onto the playing in field arena. Leadership and talent does the job, not Jerry.

For once, go figure...

I hope you feel better getting that off your chest. You are grasping at straws trying to figure out this loss. Our rookies on offense had nothing to do with this loss. It was the defense that failed us and the biggest part of that failure was by veterans like Hooker. The autopsy on this loss will be far more in-depth than just blaming rookies.

Guyton and Beebe are the one real contributors. Rest of those guys are depth but yeah having two rookies on the line is gonna have a bumpy ride but should at some point pay off.

This is a valid point especially when you realize they are playing because there is no one else to start for them, except maybe in Liufau's case.

Guyton is clearly not ready for prime time. He is struggling with NFL strength and speed. He may come back stronger next year but he is going to struggle this year.

Beebe is holding his own. I do not think Hoffman would be much of an upgrade over him, if he is an upgrade at all.

Kneeland has to play. There is no one else since Armstrong and Fowlers left.

Carson only plays until Bland is back.

Liufau is their pet. He is Zimmer's Eric Scott. Maybe he will be good someday, but right now I would have Overshown out there. He is better for one thing, and also he plays with a style more Cowboys defenders need to play with. Sure he will make some mistakes, he is basically a rookie. But this defense needs a guy who flies around and hits people.

I would add one more rookie to the collection. I would give Ryan Flournoy a chance. For one thing he is a better route runner than both Tolbert and Brooks. I know it was only preseason, but beating backup DBs in preseason with speed or athleticism is one thing. Flournoy showed he can get open with precision route running. IMO, that makes him more likely to be successful against NFL CBs. Give him a chance. It can't be much worse than what we saw yesterday.

regardless of rookie starters or not..
we can't win if we can't stop the run.
guyton and beebe are part of whats right with the offense.
we had too many possessions that ended in fg's.
we can't win if we don't cash those in for td's.
tho it wasn't a playoff game...those 2 areas sure made it resemble one,in my opinion.
thankfully the season isn't warmed up yet.

Thats why we have a free agency which Jerry and the boys don't use..it will get worse bc this team and coach is cooked
Yeah this was planned last Jan. when they decided to run it back with MM on his final yr of his contract, hire a DC to a one yr contract, replace a group of FA’s with rookies and unproven 1st and 2nd yr players while mostly only signing aging vets to one yr contracts.

Its like the only plan was to go cheaper and younger in order to resign Dak, Lamb and Parsons but with no real plan for this season or the future.

They aren’t planning to lose on purpose. But losing is a byproduct of playing so many rookies especially in the trenches.
So, if i follow your logic, either the team is planning to lose or a 5 billion $ NFL franchise does not know what a random fan forum poster does

This is what happens when you don't have a system in place. The Cowboys rely on individual talent instead of a plug-and-play system where you have your anchors/foundation who deserve the big contracts and then the other pieces around them can be complementary (FA veterans + draft picks). Jerry and Stephen don't know what they are doing and have relied on McClay's drafting of early-round picks who pan out and then you have to pay them. But then those successful draft picks either age out and/or want more that you can afford so you have to let them go. And then you rinse and repeat the cycle.
