everybody is different i could care less about yesterday. as long as we escaped without any further injury. we werent eliminated so no it dont matter to me. Now it may start to matter to the phyche of some of the players. I didnt go in to yesterday thinking we were going to trounce a division rival in their house with a younger more athletic line than us.They did have something to play for regardless of what may on here felt. Its called pride abd curb stomping your most hated rival.

I predicted 4 weeks ago that this would be the toughest game but got laughed at. to the pessimistic fans which there are alot of them here yesterday is probably as deflating as it gets. to the more optomistic its a loss and the cowboys havent lost 2 straight all year. The NFL is truly a week to week league
as optomistic as i can be though i didnt expect 10 3 and outs. The Line and Dak looks terrible the run game is non existent. good news is tampa is flawed as well. I lost 0 sleep

I see a team who has had some really shaky performances against mostly inferior opponents the past 6 weeks.
There is no inferior opponent. This is who the Cowboys are, an average team. That is the way the front office wants it. Good enough to get into the playoffs on the bare minimum roster expenditure and hey if they win it all great - we won a title on a bargain. Is it realistic? Probably not, but boy are they going to give it the old college try.

Most disappointing part about yesterday was that the coaches didn’t have the team mentally prepared nor did they even have a feel for their frame of mind.

It was obvious the team was just going through the motions so at some point you realize this and start sitting guys to protect against injury. Instead we let the starters sleep walk till late in the 4th risking injury to key players. Either you’re ALL IN to play or sit your *** down!

12-5 2 years in a row would indicate they are better than average. What they are is inconsistent and you dont know what you are going to get. good news is they havent lost 2 in a row all year and the rest of NFC except san fran is also flawed

Unless we have treated the last few weeks like training camp games by having a vanilla game plan, you can't not be bothered. In all seriousness I don't think anybody gave a damn yesterda, knowing the Iggles were going to pound the Giants and it showed in their play.

What happens next? You got me....

If it didn't matter, many of the key starters wouldn't have played in the second half.

The fact that they were out there until it really didn't matter tells you it matters.

They were trying their butts off and to fail in such grand fashion absolutely matters.
Regular season wins matter in that they allow you into the playoffs. But, no I don’t think winning lots of regular season games matters as much as winning in January and February. Winning lots in December means nothing if the team falls flat in the postseason.

Tennessee won 4 out of 5 games last year to close out the season including a win vs the 49ers. Then laid an egg vs the Bengals.

I don't think it mattered that much.

Would've been nice to look sharp though
A win would've been better than a loss, but we still go to Tampa next week to play an entirely different game.

Obviously. This is a blind homer rationalization thread.

I get that the L doesn't technically matter as far as making the PO's, or PO seeding goes.

Although, it could have mattered regarding seeding, and it does matter as far as momentum and confidence going into the PO's goes.

I suppose both yes and no are correct answers, depending on from which angle it's being viewed.

Week 18 only mattered if the Eagles lost. The Eagles established an early lead in their game and so it seems the scoreboard watchers informed the Cowboys coaching staff of his as to adjust effort in Washington accordingly. It was a halfhearted approach to the game.
It sure was half hearted, but more like half butted. They checked out before the game even started. Very generic vanilla game plan. I do not like Moore, but that was not his typical called game.

No concerns about allowing back up QBs to look like solid starters 5 of the last 6 games? No concerns about an OL that can't beat 2nd stringers?
Yes and no....The Cowboys need to clean up the defensive side of the ball for sure. I'm optimistic in getting LVE and Hankins back, but obviously we need to see that they are 100%. Howell looked good, but didn't exactly light it up, same for Dobbs in the Titans game. I think this defense is better than we are giving them credit for right now, because we are expecting perfection.

The oline is my bigger concern. They have to play better than they did yesterday for this team to have any sort of a chance. Not sure if Biadasz being out actually hurts that much, but that was ugly yesterday. I don't know the injury status of the Bucs, I know they have been missing a lot of talent, but have to believe guys like Vita Vea are going to get healthy quicker than the Cowboys would like.

anytime you suit up for a game you are expected to produce, no excuse for how they played yesterday. They are paid professional and need to act like it.

Yesterday only matters if you lose to Tampa. Win and all is forgotten, and the pendulum will swing back the other direction to the narrative around here being that the Cowboys will win the superbowl.....which is typically when we suffer the most.
I've seen a lot of good posts from you

that's not allowed after a loss

I didn’t enjoy watching that glorified preseason game from our starters yesterday either. The team won last years’ last game of the regular season 51-26, and followed it with a crap out in the postseason.

I’ve said in numerous threads, that the true contenders make it to the championship game of their respective conferences. The Bucs are a bad football team currently. Too many injuries on their offensive line with a 45 year old Brady. The Cowboys should win the game running away. If the Cowboys can make it to the NFCCG looking great (especially the QB), then the core can stay together. If they fall flat and do not make it past the divisional round, they deserve to have older core players removed (or plans started to get them removed-I understand Dak cannot be moved for at least 2 years).

There has never been this weak of a path to the conference championship game in my memory. San Francisco looks like the best team in the conference with the last drafted player playing QB (and the success is not due mostly to him). Winning 12 regular season games is a nice feel good (in back to back years), but the team has already displayed the ability to reach this threshold. Time for Cowboys’ fans to demand a higher standard. This is it-put up or forever shut up for this core.

YES IT MATTERS BECAUSE WE HAD STARTERS IN THE GAME!!!!! If they were all young players I'd understand

I mean they did lose on purpose and just not try? Dak intentionally threw that pick 6? Ok then I guess.

Because if they were trying we're in trouble.

The Packers won 6 of their final 7 games last season (including beating the eventual Super Bowl champions) before laying an egg against the 49ers. The Rams lost a critical game vs the 49ers (last regular season game) before defeating them in the conference championship. Good teams have good regular season success. Great teams have great postseason success. The only true contenders play towards the end of the postseason.

No. Dallas cannot beat Brady or San Francisco no matter what.

Except for the playoffs are more about being tuned up and ready to play. We came out flat yesterday. That idiot, Greg Olson kept saying we need to keep those guys in. Nope, we should have pulled them at a few minutes in the 2nd Q. Even if we win on Monday night, it's going to be a close game. We were beat up yesterday and we are not a team that is built on coming back strong wanting to punch someone in the mouth.
