Things are cyclical in the league, for the most part. Of course Cleveland and Philly might argue since they have no hardware to show for being who they are for fifty years. But at some point the downtrodden put together a roster and that perfect storm comes together and they win it all.

Sure, there are franchises that have been to the dance and not. But they still have hope.

Yet, since 1995, and that is twenty years, these guys we follow haven't sniffed the NFC Championship game. And now with Romo looking like he is in the last act of his career, where does this team go from here?

The team has youth. Would this be a beginning?

Could Romo teach this guy in the last years of his career?

Im not big on college football and also not crazy about drafting a qb in the first because of the pressure to immediately use them, but...from what i have read/seen, id be open to lynch as long as youre drafting him with the idea that he is there to learn from romo and then get a few starts only if/when romo is hurt. If he doesnt start a game for 2 years then everything went great.

Let the Washington team have their success. They've convinced themselves that Cousins is the answer and are set to let RG3 go. I expect Cousins will continue to be good but never great and RG3 will find success somewhere that can help raise his mechanics a bit.

Wash likely gets destroyed in the wildcard round anyway, so it doesn't really matter. NFC East is just there to lose to Seattle

I havent seen a Bob Griffin Three subway commercial in a longtime. Subway knows whats up, hes done.

He does not have the mental skilld to read defenses so its pointless. He has the body of a sprinter so he will always get hurt.

Actually, the one good thing about the Cowboys' season is their fate is already decided. We have had time to accept that fact. The other NFC East teams however are still clinging to hope that they will win the division. At least two of those team's fans will be disappointed when that doesn't happen. Even worse, the fans of the one that does win will be disappointed after the first playoff game when they lose.

I hear you. But it's not like we haven't been in that same exact scenario multiple times. Now, I just feel so.............irrelevant.

I have a good friend who is also a lifelong Cowboy fan had he's really sharp but last week we went off on talking about he wants pedigree in the next Cowboy quarterback. I laughed and told him the game has passed him by so fast he didn't even realize it. Pedigree, meaning big time players from big time programs in big time games who step into an organization and win - right?

"Exactly" he says--

Kinda like, Mark Sanchez, or Matt Lenient, or EJ Manual or Vince Young or RG III or Sam Bradford...

The only way you get to the can't misses like Luck, Winston & Newton is by getting the number one pick and that ain't gonna happen.

If there's a kid from Northern Illinois or Long Beach state or Memphis or Eastern Illinois or Miami of Ohio who can play get him. Waiting for "pedigree" or the next Troy Aikman is fools gold.

I'd rather the skins win the division.

I cannot stand the idea of the Giants or Eagles in the playoffs. Eli always steps up his game in the playoffs somehow and I don't even want to entertain the idea of them winning playoff games.

The Eagles are a classless fan base and don't deserve ANY success.

The skins have been awful for so long that I really don't consider them as a threat. Let them enjoy their division win*.

(*- Tony Romo out for practically entire season)

I still say if there's one team in this division that could get hot and make a run it is the Giants. Not the Commanders and not the Eagles. But that isn't a very likely scenario.

Well they certainly play good teams well. They don't win, but they are competitive.

If anyone should be bothered today it's Jerry he's the Grinch who stole Christmas from his fanbase. He's a rebel without a claus not even Santa paid him a visit this year. He's so out of it I doubt he can get through a rendition of Jingle Bells without a bunch of "um's, uh's and lip smacks. I hope he's spending Christmas with the corny, clapping, red headed robot he's still trying to develop as a HC after 5 seasons.

Someone should lock Jerry in a room with Mr Monotone for 24 hrs so he can lick his lips listening to his red headed broken record repeat over and over about how the team scratched-clawed-fought because we're the Dallas Football Cowboys and we run ball plays. Merry Christmas Jerry!

That's been the Giants history the past decade but the teams they had the did get hot and make a run had a lot more defense than this team that ranks dead last in total defense.

You could say that, but the last time they won the Super Bowl that defense played poorly all year. They literally just turned it on in the playoffs.

The big difference between the Giants 2011 defense and their 2015 defense is they had 48 sacks in 2011 compared to only 19 sacks so far this season. It was their pass rush that made such a huge difference for that team as well as their 2007 team that had 52 sacks. The Giants aren't getting the sacks or pressures their championship teams did and they're giving up almost as many points as they're averaging on offense. You never want to count the Giants out because they have been a very resilient team but they haven't looked good all season and we're into week 16.

Commanders are in first place because the Eagles and Giants suck, and we didn't have Romo at QB, and Dez for a good part of the season. Period.
We would be in 1st place or would have won the division by now if not for that. And I will never be convinced otherwise.

Yes, D let us down in 7 games and we lost them, but with Romo in there, we may not have been in those situations.

The only good thing about the Eagles beating the Commanders. It puts the Eagles at 7 wins and assures us a better draft pick if we win the last 2 games. Eagles will pick below us.
It also makes the Eagle / Giants game mean something, as well as the Commanders / Cowboys. I would love to see us knock them out of the playoffs, even it it means Giants or Eagles win it. At least that will be something to feel good about the season on an ending notes.
It may cost us from going from slot 6 to slot 10, but it will be worth it.

Rod Marinelli and Garrett are gone next year.
