we don't have to worry about getting beat deep much w/ him back there, he's doing a great job providing help over the top, although he does have his moments
on the otherhand though, Roy is our 2nd-leading tackler, and stopping the run is important for a team

You have to pick between Roy Williams and Ken Hamlin.
The guy you pick stays. The other is gone and never a Cowboy again.
Who do you pick. Hamlin, or Roy?

Hamlin has been an awesome addition, but my answer is Roy.

A couple years ago it'd be Roy.
Now it's Hamlin. He's our quarterback. On defense.
I somehow get the feeling Roy has separated himself from his teammates a little these last couple years. Crayton's comments might be a little hint of that.

Hamlin.

Until the past 16 games or so, it would be Roy, no question. Even early last season, he was making plays - and better plays in coverage than Hamlin is making this season. Recall his fantastic INT where he closed on Cooley against the Skins last season for just one example.
However, since late last season, Roy has basically been a ghost on the field. As much as I homer for our players, and Roy especially, if someone asked me to outline what Roy is doing at a high level for our team, I'd almost be at a loss. Yes, I appreciate what he is doing for our run defense. We can go to that nickel/dime look and never miss a beat. But what big plays has he made? The only one I can think of all season is his fantastic PD on that pass against the Vikings.
It is possible that this is a slump season. That he will bounce back. Given that, I would take Roy over Hamlin every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
But it's also possible that this is the decline, and that we'll never get Roy back. If that's the case, and Jerry has his finger on the pulse of the fanbase, we may not see Roy here for too much longer. I'm sure his merch sales have declined with other stars budding, and half our fan-base has some irrational hate for the guy. In that case, We've got to roll with the 26 year old Hamlin and find a replacement for Roy.
