You see what they did, right?

Read this list......... it seems their new strategy is to focus on busted players drafted fairly high and hopefully hit on a few. Not bad as long they use it in perspective and do NOT try to use to build but supplement. This league is loaded with B players hungry to prove themselves ....... I can see taking a low risk on 5-6 players per year. High reward-low risk......

No, it is bad.

They heard the complaints that they weren't active enough in FA, so they went out and signed a bunch of JAGs early. Now they will come out and tell us that complaints about them not being active was silly and stupid.

But they are misinterpreting what people were saying. Active in terms of getting in on quality FAs early.

It was always quality over quantity. In other words, if they signed two really good FAs early that's better than signing 6 JAGs early. But that's what they have done here and think they've bucked the whole not active claim.

They still don't get it.
They had 24 FAs to replace. It was always going to be quantity over quality. Every single one of the FAs fills a need. Maybe not a starter but they’ll all play.

You can’t sign 6 pro bowlers with 50 million in cap space.

As long as they get a couple starters in the draft I don’t think you can complain. They weren’t going to catch the Eagles on paper in one offseason. That’s why last offseason was so awful. It set this team back 2-3 years.

like Hawkeye said, It was a low risk high reward bunch of guys so if we hit on a couple then great. As long as none of these guys preclude us from getting the right guys in the draft. Personally, I still feel our first 3 picks should be RB, WR, CB (not in that particular order) and I would trade down in the first if the right offer is there. This draft is heavy at RB, kind of at WR, and there are a few good ones at CB.

Some of the moves are fine for the LBs and Fowler. The rest of the free agents are depth guys that it's hard to find excitement over.

Hopefully they can add a receiver among the decent ones left.

They will have 24 to replace every year going forward. All the sign is 1 year deals.

We should have traded for a Cooper Kupp.
I would rather have Diggs or K. Allen. Kupp is expected to get between 12-15 million a year and we could get either of the other options for that amount. I think Diggs would want to play hard with his brother on the team, and Allen is probably the best of the crop and a really good route runner.

I do like Kupp, he is just a likeable player as a 3rd round pick who lit up the league for a couple years.

This isn’t a bad strategy when your roster is filled out. It’s terrible when you have gaping holes everywhere

The hope is you hit on more draft picks/UDFAs that are on multi year deals to reduce the need to fill with one year deals.

Most teams will probably always need to do 4-5 outside vet FAs/trades, (not counting resigning your own like they did with Osa and others). Dallas just did 1 last year and has 9 this year.

Great points.

It’s not a sound approach but right now there isn’t much they can do. They have to replace 24 players…..6 or so of those guys will be rookies. I get the frustration as I am frustrated too but the frustration is for years of a terrible approach to roster building. Their approach right now I just don’t know what’s the alternative. I would sign one or two impact guys and bargain shop myself if I have to replace so many players.

Nice. I agree, send Jerry your application. He wont even listen.

I agree, and would do the same.

However, I dont hate what they've done this offseason. I was livid about Schottenheimer, but I love the staff.

These free agents are all interesting. Fowler and 10.5 sacks, and Sanborn are nice. The other guys all have potential. It could be a train wreck, or we could rejuvenate a couple of these guys and have it pay dividends.

Anyone who this this is a reach didn't listen to Jerry this year. It's the most frustrated and confrontational I've heard him before. He was feeling the heat. He went so far alluding to getting a few radio station hosts fired/blacklisted - crap he does to hosts within the star all the time when they ask him tough questions.

I agree. Think people are afraid to be intrigued by the moves because they think it’s justifying how this team is ran. Not at all. I can admit it’s intriguing who they’ve brought in. On paper these moves don’t bring optimism but let’s remember when Eagles signed Becton and Baun no one saw that coming. Sure it comes with some misses like Devin White. But with a solid rookie class and some bargain bin guys playing well….you just never know.

OP is on-point…they sign these FAs based on pedigree and potential vs actual performance. The only signing I liked was bringing back Fowler, when the case could be made that the FO should have never released him in the first place.
