Here's a thread from a Jets forum on Austin. It's an old thread from when the deal was first being discussed in the offseason. Starting on page 19 (which is where the link goes), somebody bumped the thread early in the season to gloat about how right he was in saying it was a bad idea to trade for Austin. Then the KC game happens...

it was clear that we would match which is why the Jets didn't bother -- ya see, that is how it usually works with RFAs, you don't screw the other team if you know they will match anyway... just let them have the guy at the tender and you'll have the favor returned someday

I'm just glad Sam Hurd no longer gets on the field at WR. Hurd is a fine 5th WR/STer, but he should never see the field as a WR unless there is an injury.
