Now hear me out before you tell how crazy it sounds?

Fire TO and send him packing.

Cowher said best when he talked about running your offense to please one guy. Especially if the guy has lost a step in ability and cannot dominate as he did once.

But

The bigger reason is the offense is not GOOD enough to be a pass first offense and Romo is not in the Peyton, Brady, Brees class of QB's.

Meaning?

Romo is not good enough to carry the team. Our 3 RB's should be the focus and playaction off this group and hit Williams and Witten short and allow Austin to stretch the defense vertically. This takes the every down burden off Romo and he needs to bus drive a little more than free wheel because he will turn it over.

I see no other alternative other than getting this overrated line to suddenly learn to play mistake free and not leak defenders for free rushes on Romo.

Agree 100%.

Once again... Most of the best teams in the league this year don't have superstar receivers. The best way to turn this team around fast -- since we don't have a lot of cap space or high draft picks -- is to make a philosophical decision to be like the Giants or Titans or Steelers and become a running team first that throws off play action.

The beauty is, we have three excellent RBs, so that part is in place. We have a big offensive line that IMO could do it if we made up our mind to do it.

I don't think RJ has it in him, though.

He pretty much did last year.

But I don't disagree we need to balance the run more.

Norm said it on the post game, next year give the ball to our 3 backs and if the WR's dont like it, they can go to hell.

Which is why TO would have to go.

And that, Jerry doesn't have in him.

I favor the idea of having some sort of coherent offensive philosophy and run first makes sense given the core of this team.

a big running game (ball control without turnovers) goes against jerry's lust for glitz & hype.

won't

ever

happen

:(

(but really we should cut TO to send a team message and also open up the offense for others, notably our running attack & two TEs).

You obviously wont hear any objections from me. We dont win in the playoffs with alligator arms or without him.

I disagree. I think this team can be pass first. It was last season. That's what I don't understand. Why are people not acknowledging how good this team was last season? How good the offense was? How good the running game was? How good the receiving game was? Romo can't quarterback a pass first offense? He did last season. So what has happened? He's been exposed? I don't buy it. There's a way to appease TO as well as the running game. Fact is, you have to committ to the running game. You need to open up holes. These 2nd and 12's have to go. Not as consistent as they come.

I heard Norm today say our receiving core is not even top 10 in the league and maybe 11-20. I disagree. I think at worst its top 5. Especially with Witten. You have to take advantage of that. You have TO's athleticism and Roy's size you can't do anything? IN defense of the offense i'm starting to think that Roy trade was horrible. No i'm not saying the trade belive it or not. The timing. A offseason should do this team wonders especially Roy. Because right now Roy and Romo are off and its not just timing. They have no idea where each other is.

Just like how the Giants dominated earlier in the season.....An excellent rushing attack, a solid defense and a QB who is a game manager.

We have the pieces in place. We just need to utilize them.

Barber, Jones and Choice are 3 excellent backs. They shall be the backbone of our offense next season. The defense has all the parts in place, and just need a better coordinator. Romo does not have what it takes to solely carry this team, which is why he simple becomes a game manager. You know, pick up the occasional 3rd down. But for the most part, let the run game be the focal part of our offense.....and let the defense set us up with decent field position.....You are doing two things this way. 1.) wearing out the opposing defense with a consistent rushing attack. 2) grinding out clock and opening up play action.

With the right coordinators in place next season, and a different approach to this offense, we may actually have a shot. But hell, im just being optimistic right now because of how disgusted I am with this teams performance down the stretch. Who knows how we will do next year! For all I know, nothing will change....but hey, I can dream right?

Romo is good enough to carry the team. He's a top 3 QB when he's healthy.

Our QB has posted three straight seasons with a QB rating of 90+. How remarkable is that? Brady's never done it. Neither has Brees. Kurt Warner did it when he won back to back MVPs. Brett Favre did it and won three straight MVPs. Aikman never did it. Joe Montana did it once. Marino never did it.

Yeah, Romo is good enough to have the offense revolve around him.

In fairness, you don't change you're entire offensive philosophy because you lost 1 playoff game.

You change it after this clustereff of a season perhaps, but not because you got beat by a very good Giants D that won the SB.

not for 16 games & playoffs.

now with 5 jags up front (yes they're overpaid jags, 4 of whom are signed thru 2012)

not the way he's totally careless with the ball.

You dont win in the NFL like this, its stupid even trying. You run the football, thats how you win games, you win the battle at the LOS, you soften them up, work a few playactions and you grind it out when you have to. This greatest show on earth vol. 2.0 sucks ***, and wont ever be anything.

Yeah, definitely. Let's cut a WR who, in the past three seasons has 3587 yards and 38 TDs for us. That's how you make the team better.

Unfortunately, our OL is more accustomed to pass block than run blocking. It has been painfully obvious since the first Iggles game.

Maybe Felix's quick burst can counteract the OL, tho.

You cant just fire Owens and regardless of how much of a punk he is, he's the only guy the defense respects enough to help spread the field and stop guys from stacking 8 in the box to make the run more affective. Roy isnt doing that nor is a TE.

The only problem is, our run blocking is pretty gaabage.

I agree with this. I think we've found our own Earth, Wind, and Fire, and hopefully we could put Barber back in the position where he succeeds coming off the bench.

So you use a QB's passer rating to determine his greatness? C'mon doggy. Lucky passer rating doesnt include fumbles.

Painfully obvious, like Choices 4+ yards per carry. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Why bother watching the games when you can just make up opinions as they suit you.
