First of all, as your OP, allow me to welcome you to this thread and I hope you enjoy your stay and remember to tip the bathroom attendants. (That's a race track reference)

I love sports movies and while I do not follow baseball much, baseball movies are top dogs for me. I also get seasonal with watching and will start my collection of football movies in August but I have been known to watch my baseball ones in April and October to open and close the season.

Now, we could have two separate categories, if you like, with based on real events and based on fictional characters.

My Top 5 Real, and so far the most important 5 in this thread, are:

Remember the Titans
Glory Road
The Perfect Game
*61
Cinderella Man

Fiction

Hoosiers
The Replacements
Major League
Rocky
The Natural

Ok, your turn but the judges decision will be final.

Well, Last Boy Scout is about an ex football player but that's not really all about the sport and neither is Longest Yard, that's about a game that takes place in a prison. Since you are the first visitor to this thread, you can replace those two without any penalty.

lukin, based on the thread you stated, I'd leave Brian's Song alone and get into Major League or The Replacements. Brian's Song made Pollyanna to tell life to **** off.

Very loosely based with a lot of changes in the story. But technically, you are correct. But that's about as close to the real details as The Replacements is to the strike season,.

We are Marshall was a decent movie. Alright, alright, alright....

Fictional would be Necessary Roughness with Kathy Ireland. Yowza!
We went to see Marshall and my wife said his quirky actions annoyed her and I laughed and told her that's how the real coach was, I remember seeing some interviews with him, a very colorful guy. It's like When the Game Stands Tall, Caviezel is a much more creative actor that that. That's the challenge of doing biopics, if they want to stay true to the story. The real coach was boring as hell and mo0re like a science teacher than a coach.
