I am still holding out hope that you will get to mid-to-end of season three when the Dominion storyline really solidifies in the series. It is from that point through season seven when Deep Space Nine really defines itself as a great Star Trek show in my opinion. If those particular episodes do not capture your admiration, I would not ask for you to struggle through any more episodes afterwards.

The whole Gul Dukat thing had me scratching my head. That part of the storyline I thought, personally, was kind of dumb.

Could you be more specific? Is the 'whole Gul Dukat thing' dumb to you throughout the entire series? Or is the 'whole Gul Dukat thing' dumb to you associated with the timeframe I commented to @Runwildboys ?

Since Gul Dukat, to the point where I've watched so far, has only been a leader of Cardassia, and the only things I've seen that have been anything other than adversarial to the protagonists are trapping himself on the station while it was in self destruct mode, and being embarrassed by an officer of the First Order (IIRC) while chasing Tom Riker, any further explanation might be a spoiler for me.

Dukat to me was both interesting and fun for a while. It was his last year or so on the show that stank to me.
