Your Dallas Cowboys after Jerry moves on.

Stephen does not crave the limelight like Jerry.
He doesn’t have Jerry’s ego either.

Only Jerry would fire a Superbowl Champion coach, hire Switzer, and crash a franchise because his feelings were hurt when he wasn’t getting enough credit. Stephen may share some of Jerry’s bad qualities but he is no Jerry. When they made Jerry, they broke the mold.

True, and hopefully that will work to us fans advantage.

So, as Jerry gets older, speculation abounds: how will the Franchise look after he moves on ?

The consensus is that Stephen will take control.

How will that play out you may ask ?

That's the purpose of the thread.

Below are are my random predictions/observations:

As poorly as Jerry has GM'ed this team, he still has a lot of charm and guile.

The P.T. Barnum in him has got him through some rough patches.

The just keeping the team relevant and hanging around the rim has kept the Star full of the casual fans.

Jerry also enjoyed the afterglow of the 3 SB victories he presided over.

He also lucked into 2 good serviceable QBs for next to nothing in cost in Romo and Dak.

These 2 QBs fit perfectly into the keeping the team relevant philosophy.

Stephen is not going to have any of the above benefits.

He has no charm, gets defensive when asked tough questions, and has actually insulted the fans with

his "air quotes" playoff drought response, and more recently his ridiculous response when asked about dragging out the

contract negotiations with star players.

Once Dak ages out, and we get really bad QB play like in the Campo years, this team will no longer be relevant.

The heat is gonna get really high, and frankly I don't think Stephen will be able to handle it.

I see him either hiring a real GM or selling the team.

I am really curious as to what you other folks think is going to happen?
Moving on? Do you mean dies? Just say that if it's what you mean.

After Jerry dies it's a certainty that Stephen takes over ownership of the team.

But I think he can see the GM job should go to Will McClay.

I think McClay might have a chance to make this team successful again without Jerry around,

I’ve said it a hundred times but here it is again in case you missed it.

You should pray that CHARLOTTE JONES takes over for Jerry and don’t laugh.

She serves on two high profile NFL committees and has been attending owner meetings for over 20 years. She’s smart, measured and highly respected in league circles. She would also be Jerry’s greatest legacy..

No more radio shows or post game press conferences, just an astute owner letting people do their jobs. Stephen and Will Mclay can handle the football side and let her be the face of the franchise. If that happened I might come back to the fold.

Stephen doesnt see out a season. He doesnt have the sycophantism respect his father does. For years media figures were 'censored' due to high level 'respect' and back scratching from fellow senior executives.

With that gone, there will be a big reaction.

It'll be interesting, to say the least.

I used to hold on to a glimmer of false hope that the franchise would find its sparkle again, but I'm quickly learning that Stevie Jr. might be even worse, and cheaper, than his dad. I see this franchise going down in a fireball with him at the helm. That'll either force change from somewhere (hopefully within the family) or we'll continue riding out our fate as the Browns of the NFC until the bitter end.

OR

Maybe his dad being gone unties his hands, and he goes wild, proving us all wrong. I wouldn’t bet on it, but we can all dream.

Stephen is not as thick skinned as his Father.
I don't think he will like getting constantly roasted by the fans and media once we start having losing seasons,
and the NFCCG drought gets so long its humiliating.

I sure hope you are right Dandy!
This team is in deep doo doo as its currently constructed in the front office.
The only thing you wrote that gives me serious concern is the part where you said Stephen would handle the football side of things.... Yikes !

Retires is my hope.
I wish him no ill will.
Just don't want him destroying my team any longer.

I agree im not sure the siblings will just fall in line behind Stephen either, the dynamics will change how much is the question.

I know people want to see this happen. I would too but it is extremely unlikely to ever happen.

It is more likely Stephen Jones will hire someone to manage football operations. Perhaps he will end up doing the same managing other areas of the franchise as well.

He knows he is not his father. It is unlikely he will continue to run the franchise according to all the cliff notes he has jotted down through the years. He is not nearly the salesman as his Pa and will be incapable to talking his way into the same type of lucrative deals, sponsorships, etc., that fell into his father's lap.

No one will ever see Stephen's CGI hips gyrating in a Papa Johns' pizza. It is not in him. He can barely sell stadium rodeo shows as entertainment.

It is more likely he will be a more hands-off owner. There is too much defective DNA in him to step completely out of the limelight.

He will never stop pretending to be just like his Daddy Dearest, which is why selling the team will not happen. All the kids are billionaires. Dude is (I guess) a chemical engineer. He became super-wealthy without doing any real work. Why the heck would he give it up the opportunity to make billions more doing the same after becoming head honcho?
I noticed you posted this on April 1st. Is this an April Fools joke? I think you are part right in that Stephen will hire someone to manage football operations.

My friend, the Joneses are a daily April Fools' joke. They never motivate me to make an April Fools' joke based on them. That would be like stabbing myself in the eye with a spoon.
