So, as Jerry gets older, speculation abounds: how will the Franchise look after he moves on ?

The consensus is that Stephen will take control.

How will that play out you may ask ?

That's the purpose of the thread.

Below are are my random predictions/observations:

As poorly as Jerry has GM'ed this team, he still has a lot of charm and guile.

The P.T. Barnum in him has got him through some rough patches.

The just keeping the team relevant and hanging around the rim has kept the Star full of the casual fans.

Jerry also enjoyed the afterglow of the 3 SB victories he presided over.

He also lucked into 2 good serviceable QBs for next to nothing in cost in Romo and Dak.

These 2 QBs fit perfectly into the keeping the team relevant philosophy.

Stephen is not going to have any of the above benefits.

He has no charm, gets defensive when asked tough questions, and has actually insulted the fans with

his "air quotes" playoff drought response, and more recently his ridiculous response when asked about dragging out the

contract negotiations with star players.

Once Dak ages out, and we get really bad QB play like in the Campo years, this team will no longer be relevant.

The heat is gonna get really high, and frankly I don't think Stephen will be able to handle it.

I see him either hiring a real GM or selling the team.

I am really curious as to what you other folks think is going to happen?

That sounds possible. What concerns me is, especially if Stephen is basically Mark Davis, then what's to stop him from turning us into the current Raiders. What's to say that the team even stays in Dallas?

When he moves on for real, I can see reporters saying "sad day in football Cowboys owners Jerry jones .............." Then you'll see on social media people NOT being sad, but throwing parties and parades lol

WOW ! Hope I can sleep tonight!
That's a pretty grim scenerio!

I mean. I highly doubt that the league would let that happen. But, considering the level of disdain people have for our franchise, they might go for it. And, if the market dries up in Dallas, Stephen might be despicable enough to try it. I just hope, if he tries it, the league forces him to sell.

It is clear Stephen cares less about winning than Jerry does, which already isn't more than hanging around the rim. He will either sell the team, or we will be the worst team in the NFL for a very long time.
Can't say i disagree.
I think if the poor front office management continues, it's gonna start showing up on the field with losing records.
I don't see the local fans putting up with that.

I can see many threads and posts getting deleted or not approved when that happens.
Some on here will be out of control.

Pretty sad when people cheer about the death of someone.
Will you participate in that social media crap?

IMHO, this was a well thought out post. I don't really have any specific thoughts, just to say I think you're accurate in most things you said.

My bet is more of the same.

My pipe dream is that once Stephen is not under Jerry’s thumb, he will feel free to adjust v following the same tired plan that has proven ineffective.

My double pipe dream is he hires a real GM.

Unfortunately, I don’t ever see the Cowboys leaving the Jones family.
