Your Dream Secondary

CB - Newman
CB - Trufant
FS - Sean Taylor
SS - Roy Williams

Of current players, that is.

The thing is, I don't think Henry is that far behind where Trufant is... so we're really only a good FS away from having the dream secondary.

the thing is, if you look at those stats

TO in the first half: 7 catches 112 yards 0 touchdowns
TO in the second half: 0 catches 0 yards 0 touchdowns
I was at the game...and it had more to do with McNabb and the injury he sustained than anything Hall did.

TO was open plenty, McNabb either didn't see him, couldn't get it to him, or was sacked.

You show me a great secondary and I'll show you a front 7 who consistantly puts preasure on the QB.

A great pass rush can make an average secondary look good.

CB Newman
CB Law
FS&SS Reed and Polamalu....they are interchangeable, and they are without a doubt the two best safeties in this league. Polamalu is just as good at SS as Roy Williams, and 50 times the FS

CB Shawn Springs
CB Champ Bailey
FS Brian Dawkins
SS Rodney Harrison

SS was a hard one. I'd like to see S Taylor play SS, and I also considered Palomalu, Reed, T Parrish and Williams.

Ed Reed hasn't done jack in over a year. He has to show me he still has it.

Springs is nowhere close to being the second-best cornerback in the league. Dawkins is a fine choice, but I think Taylor is a better one. Harrison is going on 60. Palomalu and Bailey are solid. My choices:

CB: Bailey
$.05 CB: Newman
CB: McAlister
FS: Sean Taylor
SS: Roy Williams

That secondary would utterly dominate and I would always play 5 DB's. A combo of Taylor and Williams should be illegal.

I think he gave Springs too much credit for limiting TO in 2004. Sean Taylor helped him out big time.

LCB: Newman
RCB: Rashean Mathis - need a physical CB and he's probably the best in the game.
Slot CB: Rhonde Barber - Both he and Newman can play the slot or the LCB spots, makes them interchangeable.
SS: Roy Williams
FS: Ed Reed

on that same breath that Ed Reed hasnt' done anything in a year, why do you have McCallister on your list? he hasn't done anything in a year

I see alot of people disagreed with my Shawn Springs selection, I expected that. I've always thought Springs was the best CB in the East and very under-rated. I also liked him when he played with Seattle. Judging cornerbacks is a very subjective matter anyways. As for him limiting TO, I'd have to disagree with Riggo. He recieved very little help from Sean Taylor, who was almost always manned up on Westbrook. Springs was manned up on TO. The skins D manned up on these two better than any other team in 04. But Smoot couldn't cover Pinkston. This is how I remember it.

I see alot of talent in Sean Taylor but alot of mistakes. It doesn't look like his head is always in the game. I've seen him out of position in coverage and he commits stupid penalties. If football ability was pure physical talent, Taylor would be hands down the best safety in football IMO. But right now, I'd place several free safetys ahead of him.

Harrison is old, but I haven't seen him slow down yet. He is an impact player and still the best SS in the league IMO.
