What's your favorite movie that takes place during the summer?

Well, can't argue with that. Not even possible to argue against that.

For me the ultimate summer movie of my youth was "Jaws".

It stunned me watching it as a teenager in the summer of 1975.

It was everything good & potentially evil about summer all wrapped into one.

It was actually May 1977, but...

Star Wars. Final answer.

I caught a ONE minute preview in the theater during the previous December. My anticipation was out of this world for nearly six months waiting for that movie.

I can still feel the excitement I felt the moment I read "A long long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..." on the screen. I was in awe from that moment on.

One Crazy Summer with John Cusack and Bobcat Goldthwait. It's one of those cheesy 80s comedies but it always makes me laugh.

Star Trek II: TWOK

I watched that movie practically every day after it was released....must have seen it over 30 times that summer alone.

Vader: What???

Solo: Yahoo!

Tie Fighter Pilot: Look out!

Solo: You're all clear, kid! Now let's blow this thing and go home!

Skywalker: yeah

Death Star Fire Control Center: Stand by.

BOOM!

Solo: Great shot, kid! That was one in a million!

Obi Wan: Remember. The Force will be with you. Always.

That brings back memories, Mike. I've always had a sort of a love/hate thing about the ocean. Still do. Love the beauty, the beach and swimming in the surf. I've even been deep sea fishing and gone on a couple cruises. Still a little scared, in the back of my mind, about what's swimming around "down there"... lol.

Anyway, Jaws comes out. I'm 17 and I'm drawn, but kind of apprehensive at the same time. I decide to go. Pays my money, gets my ticket. I was primed to the hilt given all the hype that was out about JAWS. Truth be told, I jumped plenty... at ALL the included "sudden scare" moments.

Steven Spielberg and his Editor got me good! :laugh2:

Now that I think about it...

Wasn't Die Hard With A Vengence set in a New York City summer?

I think Jaws would top a lot of people's lists when you narrow it down to set in Summer.

It's hard to think of a movie that is totally set in the summer, and yet isn't something like Weekend at Bernies.

If you ever see it on one of the cable channels where they have to change the curse words watch it. Its hilarious to see how they change Sam's dialogue. :laugh1:
