1. 49ers
2. Chiefs
3. MNF winner
4. Cowboys

Also possible they drop KC a bit, but there will be a lot of Kelce/Chris Jones talk
Chiefs are number one with Kelce / Chris Jones in the lineup. I would put the 49ers / Dallas tied at number 2. You could make an argument who the next teams are in the pecking order.

Only power ranking I care of is the Monday after the Super Bowl.
Funny thing is. there could be a serious journalist who would claim the Cowboys were not at the top of that power ranking list, even when they won the Super Bowl.

Now think on that. If this team won it all, there would be national press people not heralding them at the top of the list.

And I have an inkling there would be people who post here that would think the same. Just speculating on that last line.

Yes, Giants went 9-7-1 last year and made the playoffs. We blew them off the field. Steelers went 9-8 last year in a better AFC, didn't make the playoffs and the 49ers rolled them in Heinz.

49ers were ahead of us already in most polls. They didn't do anything to lose that nod over us IMO.
Ok...which is more impressive, going to Pittsburgh and beating a team pretty badly, or putting a 40 burger on a team at their home?

Peter King said the 49ers were far and away the best team because they blew out Pittsburgh. He made the comment that Dallas win was not as impressive because the Giants looked so crappy. Uh, maybe the 49ers looked good because the Steelers are just that crappy. They surely aren't considered any better than the Giants were. The Steelers only claim to fame is TJ Watt, who is a freaking beast, but they literally don't have much of anything else.

Giants made the playoffs and won a playoff game. Steelers did neither. Dallas beat the Giants ***** all over the field. I don't get why our game is not considered more impressive. Hell, it was in NY on the night of the 9/11 remembrance...they should have been pumped up.

The above being said, I think the best teams yesterday were SF, Dallas, Miami and Detroit. Based on preseason polls, where Eagles and Chiefs were up top, I would think at the very least you would drop the Chiefs down a few spots. FOr preseason I am not sure how you could have the Jets higher than us, I can see an argument for the Bills.

I'd have SF first, Miami second, Eagles 3rd, Cowboys 4th, Lions 5th, Chiefs 6th and maybe winner of tonight 7th. But I really don't care....they can keep disrespecting us all the way through the season.

Outside the Bills / Jets game, will DAL be ranked #1 or will all the experts come with excuses that DAL should be #3 or lower?

FYI, besides Jason Garrett the entire SNF crew picked NY. No one has been giving DAL respect.
Does anyone know when most of the sports media does their weekly power rankings -Tuesday after the MNF game(s) - or on Wednesday / later in the week?
Off the cuff, I think the consensus will be a split vote between DAL and SF being No. 1.
Even with Pittsburg being medicore the last half-dozen seasons (3 playoff appearances, with 1 divisional round and 2 wildcard losses), the 49ers went east three time zones, with an early Sunday gametime start, and got up 20 to zip ---ALTHOUGH THE COWBOYS RAN IT UP TO 26-0 AT THE SAME TIME DURING THE SECOND QUARTER.
I give the nod to Dallas - a shutout the entire game, while Pittsburg did score their only TD at the end of the 2nd quarter.

The niners will get #1 we will be #3.. funny the rankings will have 3 NFC teams topping them when all we hear is "The AFC is so much stranger than the NFC"..
I've seen an Eagles poster here Mountain something say that if the Cowboys played in the AFC they wouldn't make the playoffs.

Watching the rest of the NFL games, so far we look to be among the better teams. Performance wise I'm not sure there's an argument. All we have to go on is week one, so after the Bills game tonight we'll see.

I mean whatever you feel but to me, if the 49ers were rated higher going into the weekend, they did nothing that would warrant us jumping them even with our impressive performance. They hammered Pittsburgh too.

I hope they do put the Jet above the Cowboys. That’s the perfect poster board material they need to motivate them to totally destroy the Jets when they come to town.
That being said, the 49ers should be number one until the Cowboys beat them.

These rankings are coming out. I've seen a high of #4 and a low of #8. Three teams that lost were ahead of them.

Good. Let's keep that chip on their shoulder a little longer.

If the Bills had won last night, I’d expect them to have been ranked above Dallas…
But I don’t think the Jets are going to be, I think they’ll be a place behind us.
