Object of the game is to name one player you wanted that they did not draft that was a hit, and one player you did want them to draft that they did which missed.

The player had to have been available when Dallas drafted and they passed on him for the hit portion.

Hit

Stephen Jackson - I really believe this guy is a consistent player who brings the pain like Barber, but is a better player. I was pretty upset they drafted Julius Jones.

Miss

Bobby Carpenter - yes I was the one lone person who wanted Carpenter over the other misses that could have been had at his draft slot.

Outside of me bragging on Quincy to the people at Extremes after he was drafted, this is the biggest mistake, and the reason I don't think I know talent very well until it reveals itself.

Hit - Jamaal Charles. I was big on him as a compliment to Barber without spending a first round pick on a running back.

Miss - Jason Williams. Was convinced he was a steal and his athletic abilities would have a major translation to our LB core.

Hit - Ray Rice. Knew he would succeed. Only back that actually reminded me of Emmitt in the past 10 years.

Miss - Julius Jones. Was my favourite in that draft. Thought he was a playmaker. Loved the trade-down because I preferred him to Jackson and Smith

Hit - Randy Moss. I'm still upset about not drafting him.

Miss - Antonio Bryant. Was my favorite player from my alma mater and drafted by the Cowboys. Good player but screwed by Parcells' mind games.

Hit: Randy Moss. I threw many objects at the TV when he was passed over.

Miss: Drew Henson. I know Dallas traded a draft pick for him rather than actually drafting him, but I had high hopes for that guy.

Hit - Ed Reed. Still remember wanting him as bad as Randy Moss...was a little scared of Moss but he was a clear second.

Miss - Kavika Pittman...remember drooling over his training camp reports...never turned into much at all.

hits: wanted mike wallace out of ole miss. fan of his speed and felt he was underused as a rebel. wanted a speed wr in that draft.

loved welker as a red raider. saw his toughness and quickness; ability to break tackles like a rb(which he was in high school in oklahoma)

misses: biggest was jacob rogers. was a fan of his coming out of usc... wow. bad miss.

disliked drafting bruce carter. didn't think he had displayed toughness or consistent run stopping ability at unc... yea.

like the OP, enough hits and misses to know i am not anywhere near infallible but can be right when paid experts disagreed.

it is all guesses until they take the field.

Hit: All time: Randy Moss, More Recent: Chris Johnson over Felix

Miss: AOA. I thought that his athleticism was worth a shot in the 4th round.

sure he was. ALL the stupid things he did since leaving the boys are all BP's fault. Yeah sure.

there were quite a few that did not mind Carpenter despite what they claim now.

I was a big fan of Byron Leftwich when he came out; until I saw his very slow throwing motion.

Thought Julius Jones would be a star.

Mostly O linemen that I wanted the boys passed on

I did both. My wife thought I was having a heart attack when it happened.
I was bouncing off the floor.

Hit: Chris Johnson, Ray Rice, Lesean McCoy all better choices than Felix ever was. Randy Moss is my all time hit I had watched him all the way back to when he was in high school and he was on a whole other planet as far as talent then the kids he played against.

Miss: Marcus Spears-thought he'd be a pocket collapsing machine in a 3-4. Pat Watkins-thought he had a chance to be good but not so much. Sam Young- don't think I was alone in thinking he could be a viable replacement for Columbo for years to come.

Most DEs in 3-4 do not do this. I felt spears fit the 4-3 more than the 3-4 and the constant moving him inside and out affected what little quickness he had. Floyd reminds me of Spears coming out.

Hit - Jamaal Charles. Just thought he was the best choice that was available. Wasn't quite as sold on CJ or Ray Rice as some were at the time.

Another one I'm still bitter about is Max Unger. I know technically we didn't pass on him, because Seattle swooped in and got him before we had a chance to take him, but we could have (and should have) traded up to secure him.

Miss - David LaFluer. What I had heard and read about him coming out of LSU, I thought he was our replacement for Novacek. Still wonder what might have been, had he not had all the back issues, but regardless, he was definitely a miss.

Parcells went on about how he knew Spears college coaches and that the key was keeping Spears weight down. Spears got fat as soon as Wade became the Head Coach.

Find one...after it became clear that he was not what was expected.

...AOA a miss? Are you kidding me!?

His career isn't even over. The guy has been working out real hard this off-season and is ready to shine.

cutting him was the dumbest decision Jerry Jones has ever made and I am sure he will regret it.

I've been praying he never ends up on the Giants or Commanders, because Romo will be having nightmares if he does...
