hit: Darrell Revis: wanted him badly even to trade up for him.

Miss: Bobby "barbie" Carpenter: I thouhgt he would be great pick. Even wrote reasons for the Cowboys to pick him.

Hit:
I really wanted Dallas to move up and get Drew Brees. I loved him coming out of Purdue. That one hurt.

Recent Hit:
I'm not really bent out of shape about it because of who they drafted in that slot, but I wanted JJ Watt to be a Cowboy in the worst way. He was what this defense needed at the time.

Obvious Hit:
Who the heck was not mad about Dallas passing on Stephen Jackson. That was about as annoying as it gets.

Miss:
I thought David LaFleur was going to be a really good football player, very similar to how Jason Witten actually turned out to be.

Recent Miss:
Arkin. I thought they could turn him into a great guard.

Obvious Miss
Looking back, I don't know how I thought Felix Jones would be better than the likes of Ray Rice, Matt Forte and Chris Johnson. Those other guys carried their teams in College and Felix was a part-timer.

Stephen Jackson - awful day in my household when we passed him up. First I was horrified when the Skins took Sean Taylor- I wanted then to take the head case Winslow. Then, with Jackson there for us, we passed.

David LaFleur - What can I say, I drank the cool aid Aikman was making when he gushed about LaFleur's abilities. What a sorry pick that was.

Obviously Randy Moss. Passing him up still ticks me off. Stephen Jackson is a far #2 for me. I remember they interviewed Aikman (out of football at the time) after the Jackson pick and he was surprised as well. What makes it worst is they both wanted to come to Dallas.

I think Ed Reed is my miss. We were looking for a safety and got RW. He was good for a several years but Ed Reed is a HOF'er. But at the time, everyone wanted RW. Esp when they showed the play he made on Chris Simms over and over.

About Bobby Carpenter, there were several people on this board that said he was the safe pick since he had the coaching pedigree. Others wanted Manny Lawson b/c he could jump out of the gym.

Also remember getting kinda ticked when we got Fasano over Marcus McNeil.

Here's a clue. When people use the term "pedigree" regarding football players, it means they have no idea what they're talking about.

Miss: Joey Harrington. I thought Joey Harrington was going to be ungodly great and be a perfect fit in the West Coast offense.

Hit: Daryl Johnston. Grew up watching him at Syracuse. He was really incredible at SU. He was not only a tremendous blocker, but a great runner when he got to run it. SU would always run their trick plays thru him. Like a quick-kick they did where he blasted the ball about 50 yards in the air and another 30 yards of roll...in a fullback's uniform. Used to throw passes, etc.

Hit - Dexter Coakley - I was very high on him when he came out of Appalachian State, and he proved to be a very solid linebacker for the Cowboys. He could probably still fetch a first round draft pick. ;)

Miss - Bobby Carpenter - While the guy I really wanted in the '06 draft was Kamerion Wimbley, I thought that Carpenter was a solid pick who would be a 10 year player. Oops.

...AOA a miss? Are you kidding me!?

His career isn't even over. The guy has been working out real hard this off-season and is ready to shine.

cutting him was the dumbest decision Jerry Jones has ever made and I am sure he will regret it.

I've been praying he never ends up on the Giants or Commanders, because Romo will be having nightmares if he does...

This is a hoax, right?

Parcells went on about how he knew Spears college coaches and that the key was keeping Spears weight down. Spears got fat as soon as Wade became the Head Coach.

Because they wanted to put him at the NT part of the time. But yeah he got fat instead of putting on muscle.

Ware, Lee, Carter, Johnson (what a huge miss), T Smith

Stanback, F Jones my recent misses. Actually I didn't want to draft either but I pulled for Stanback and thought Felix was going to be good.

I wanted them to draft Randy Moss, but didn't see anyway he would drop that far, but then he did and the Cowboys passed on him. I also was a huge Michael Turner fan and Matt Forte was my pet cat.

Now, with that said, I also liked the Boobie Carpenter pick, and I thought Russell Maryland would be a perinnial all-pro. (Maryland was good, but not the star I thought he'd be.)

I loved the Too-Tall Jones drafting, but thought Randy White would be a bust.
I thought Troy Aikman and John Elway were the best college QBs I had ever seen, but I also thought David Carr was another one in that catagory.

Good thing I wasn't the GM then, and never will be. (of course, I will always think I could do better than Jerry Jones.)
