So, I'm laying there watching an episode of Rick and Morty last night. If you have never seen the show, it's about a grandfather named Rick (who is an alcoholic genius mad scientist) that always takes his grandson Morty (a good-natured teenager) on crazy quests and ends up entangling him in his shenanigans.

The particular episode I was watching is that Rick develops this electronic ear piece, that you can stick in someone's ear as they're sleeping, and that allows you to enter their dream. A deliberate close parody of the movie Inception. Anyway, towards the end of the show my phone notifies me of an e-mail. I open up the notification and check the e-mail, and to my surprise, this was the contents of the e-mail:



Kind of aligns with the spoken content that was in the air during my viewing of that show, don't ya think?

I've had other little occurrences like this as well. Another crazy example for me was a time when I was at work talking with a co-worker. I was talking about how I should have/it would be cool to learn a different language. About 10 minutes after that conversation ended, I started seeing advertisements for the Rosetta Stone software that offers language courses throughout my social media apps.

That's an invasion of privacy. And if you can prove it, you could sue the maker of your phone as well as service provider.

Ha! The feds have to ask permission to get information from your phone but advertisements can listen in. What a world.

You like a movie you have on a hard drive that's not connected to the internet?

I frequently get ads for stuff, immediately after talking about it...even when I wasn't using my phone. I really don't mind it, because I'd rather get ads and offers for stuff I like than for stuff I don't like.

Not only are they listening, but they can access your camera on your phone/webcam and so on. Some employee of a security company was recently caught accessing the cameras of customers and spying on them.

Data mining is what has been going on. Cookies, permissions and non permissions to monitor everything you look at, buy, and say. Everyone has a profile, and everything has been linking. Selling peoples data is big business

Biometrics- People give their face away on their phone, they are doing it when you fly internationally, fingerprints on phone, Amazon is now using palm recognition like a credit card. People have given away their dna/blood to ancestry sites. Eye scans and other ways

Look up the information on facial recognition in China. There was one study, i might get the details a little wrong, but they took a guy with a spy like background who know how to blend in, and facial recognition found him in a crowd of 10,000 or something, in a minute or 2. That was few years ago. It is almost impossible to go anywhere in major cities and not be on camera

"the capital insurrection thing" here in the US as they called it, they had everyone on facial recognition, and the arrests came later on.

Facebook, instagram, and social media has been a way to document and record your actions and behavior. People have given away an age progression picture profile, and behavior profile for large parts of their lives

Alexa and those devices record everything you say in your house.

Advertising and people with nefarious intents, might know us better than we think. They are not quite there yet on all platforms, but soon, all advertisements will be personally, sent on tv/computers/phones, and they will know when you are hungry, what you like to eat, what food is in your refrigerator, what home supplies you are low on, and the advertisements will be directed to you. If you have a smart home

Green screens changing backgrounds in videos is common, and even newscasters have been caught faking video locations.

Putting together the 3, it will not be long before you can not believe thing you see or here as being real. If that stuff isn't already used.

a few weeks ago I was at Best Buy. I was just browsing really, killing some time.

anyway, I was checking out some gaming PC’s. And I was checking one out in particular. I must have spent a lot of time standing right in front of that PC.


Anyway, even though I talked to NOBODY because I was alone in the store.

my phone and Facebook feed then started having constant ads for the same exact PC I was looking at in Best Buy.

now I have a buddy who used to be a store manager for Best Buy, but no longer works for the company. He confirms that they actually do have cell phone date for what parts of the store you go to and how much time you spend there. So they can have a good idea for what products you may be most interested in

Meh, contrary to how the tone I may have left in my original post sounds, it doesn't freak me out. It is what it is at this point. The price you pay for technology. It's just crazy to me that we live in a world where our daily activity is turning into data for major corporations.

I actually had this conversation not too long ago with somebody about the validity of this "business" and if it was possibly a ploy to just start collecting DNA. I'm not saying I sway in that direction but the debate is certainly there. The good news is that it helps catch people like the Golden State Killer. Without it he may have forever been a mystery.

Look up deep fakes, there is a new one some young guy came out with tom cruise recently that is really good. The technology on them is increasing very fast, and soon, you will not be able to tell what is real or fake.

They use green screens in movies and stuff. To where they have a person in front of a green screen, but the background is something else. There has been a newscast or 2 that got caught using it. To where, they had a reporter in front of one, and claiming they were some where else.

If you record yourself saying enough words or syllables, there are voice programs, that you can make say anything you want with your speech patterns and voice.

So, if it is not already happening, you can combine those 3 things, and nothing you seen on a screen has to be true. As an example, lets say the president disappears or dies, they could easily send out videos using those 3 things for months, and you might not be able to tell. Or whatever scenario you want to use. Maybe someone doesn't like you, and they make a video to falsely incriminate you in a crime, get you fired, or break up a relationship.

Soon, you will not be able to trust what you see on a screen.
