Very underrated.
Very under nourished more like it,,,o_O
As sweet and pretty as her voice was ,I can't keep but blaming her for cutting it short, she had a great voice with harmonics/ inflection,,, if you flip it over to the dudes/ man card casing-liner, their is and never will be a better male vocalist than Anthony Kiedis,as his voice inflection and harmonics could make a song about a corner fence post on the back fourty sell records:)

But when a 'singer' is 'performing' a ' song' thusly showcasing their pipes is where the mustard gets cut!,,,o_O

:lmao: I kinda' see where you're coming from 666 but the O.P. significantly says 'singers' ,,, kinda' tough to 'sing' without 'performing',,, maybe TRACY CHAPMAN is the clear cut #1:cool:

There are singers and there are performers. SIngers frankly are surface technicians. Performers pour their souls in

I tussled choosing between Mariah and Alicia for a few minutes before finally going with Keys.

This thread gave me a headache. :p
:lmao::lmao2::lmao:

It do,too!
Once you start sifting thru the vast myriad of vocal talent past and present,,, kinda' makes you wunder bout ol' uncle Jed not even throwering his rat looking hat into the O.P straight off, huh:confused:
( he's clueless and running numbered responses by tally b-4 unveiling his dictum is my guesso_O)

Reckon I held my fire and kept my powder way too dry, straight from the PLANET 'CLAMPETT' !!!
he's posted Venusians of foreign B.S.,,, obviously a pathetic smug ploy of square peg into a round hole, once againo_O
( the lame ploy of advanced smuggieness with the structure of yer' list bewilderingly baffling:huh: as I've honestly never heard a single bray from any of those coonhound *****es you've posted:rolleyes:

( great thread anyway! BTW:thumbup:)

Yep, she is great. Her version of Time after Time is incredible.

So many other greats already mentioned. I'll add Annie Lennox. Such a powerful voice.
:banghead: plumb forgot about short haired ANNIE,,

Three more who I do not believe have been listed...

Belinda Carlisle– Great voice. Underrated.

Sinead O'Connor– When she's not being a goof, her voice is magnificent.

Tony Braxton– Another with a great voice.

I forgot about Belinda Carlisle. As a kid I wanted to have her babies.

In no particular order (and with my personal favorite songs):

Linda Ronstadt -- "Blue Bayou" and "Don't know much" with Aaron Neville
Annie Lennox (beat me to it Sarek) -- "Here comes the rain again"
Diana Ross -- "Can't Hurry Love" with the Supremes
Kate Bush -- "Heathcliff" -- a bit of an unusual choice, but fantastic voice and really strange videos
Celine Dion -- "I drove all night"
