Yes we all have our favorite Cowboys but also what Cowboys have you wished never dawned the silver helmet and blue star. No owners and coaches, just players.

For me

Most Loved

1- Drew Pearson- He was my childhood hero growing up. He was a rookie and I started for the first time in Little League Football and our team was called the "Cowboys" and I wore #88 and Drew Pearson was a rookie WR and he was awesome. My favorite always when they say #88 I see Drew not Irvin or Dez...

2-Tony Dorsett- The guy was awesome he was so smooth running the ball. It was like he was in a ballet out there. Still one of the fastest players I have ever seen.

3-Charles Haley-Everytime I watched the defense I keyed on him and he was like a sprinter coming out of the blocks and the LT was like moving in slow motion. They can say The Triplets all they want,we didn't win Superbowls until he arrived.

4-Randy White--I still remember that Eagles game where he chased the WR down, but the play that got me awestruck by him was him being blocked and he swatted at the Eagles RB back of their head like a grizzley bear and knocked him down to the ground.

5-Demarcus Ware-Was just like Haley I always watched how he would play and teams constantly had to know where he was because he was unblockable at times.

Most Hated

1-Quincy Carter- The guy couldn't throw a tight spiral to save his life. He had me wanting to pull my hair out of where some simple 5 yard pass was going to go.It was either 10 feet above the receiver or at their feet inches away from the turf.

2-Phil Pozderac- Bigger than Too Tall Jones, but this guy was Frankenstein. He couldn't walk and chew bubble gum at the same time. He was clumsy seemed like he had 2 left feet. Couldn't remember the snap count on a consecutive plays and lost a tight Giants game. Fred Sanford comes to mind when I would see him "YOU BIG DUMMY"!!!

3-Manny Hendrix- Drove me nuts. He was a project Tom Landry hoping for the next Cornell Green. I remember watch preseason and the Bears threw right to him for an interception and he had this great run for a TD and everyone was cheering and I'm freaking out because I didn't want him on the team after a couple of years watching him constantly getting burned. I swear the Bears players looked like they were missing him on purpose. never failed when he came in as the nickel or dime in a regular game the other team went right after him and 1ST DOWN everytime. Just drove me nuts.!!!

4-Soloman Page- I hated him. This guy was lazy. He would do 1 push and 2 push and then wouldn't care and that defender would be on a jail break after the QB. He should have been the LT but I think the team couldn't trust him. Also he refused to play OG in his final game. Just a waste of a 2nd round talent

5-Dat Nguyen- Yes this should surprise some of you,but I hated him as a MLB. The guy was an ankle biter. he made a lot of tackles but teams constantly targeted him. He was small and I wanted a MLB who could knock an OG on his butt and run after and punish the ballcarrier. Not Nguyen he would grab an ankle and be dragged for 5 yards. His stats were inflated to me and ankle biting to me is not a tackle that is someone scared to be embarrassed that he might be knocked on his own butt. Tyrone Wheatley got him in a preseason game. Nguyen came on a blitz unblocked and Gannon just gave Wheatley the ball and you think was going to tackle him and Wheatley dropped him like a bad habit and ran for 3 or 4 yards. Nguyen got hurt by a WR Joe Jurvicous blocking him. Yeah Jurvicous was big but a freaking WR hurt you???

Well everyone what are your list of Loved and Hated???

Wow, narrowing it down to top five loved Cowboys is not an easy task for me...there are so many. I'll go with Michael Irvin and Darren Woodson as the first two. Then Tony Romo, Tony Dorsett and Captain America Roger Staubauch. I'll add Everson Walls as honorable mention. I was pretty young when the last three played but they are the the guys I remember being my childhood favorites. I can't say that I have ever hated a Cowboy. If I had to put a list together of five players that I was disappointed in as Cowboys it would maybe be Troy Hambrick, Greg Hardy, Peppi Zellner, Patrick Crayton, and Dwayne Goodrich.

Can't give you top five favs......way too many to narrow down.
I can give you #1 - Drew Pearson just based on the 2017 draft

Top Five Hated:
1. T.O. - Never forgave him for desecrating the Star
2. Prime Time - He was never a real Cowboy in my book
3. Barbie - no explanation needed
4. Keyshawn - See Prime Time
5. Free - I have never sworn at my TV as much at a player as I did with him
Bonus #6 - Almost every DB/S that has played on this team in the last 15 years

Dat Nguyen was downright superb in 2013, often looking like the best player on the field that season. When we lost him in 2012 due to injury, the defense was screwed. Could have been an excellent MIKE if the Zimmer that coaches defenses today was coaching back then.

Favorites

1. Emmitt
2. Staubach
3. Randy White
4. Tony Dorsett
5. Darren Woodson

Most Hated

1. Rafael Septien - no need to give a reason

2. Antonio Bryant - had all of the talent in the world but was a wannabe gangster that came from a middle class family and refused to come out of the game and was promptly traded afterward to Cleveland. Even Darren Woodson had bad things to say about him which is a tall task.

3. Barry Switzer - complete incompetent who was just bizarre and unprofessional. Cost us the signing of one of my all time favorite non-Cowboys players...Chris Spielman.

4. Jimmy Johnson - I've grown more tired of Jimmy than anything else. You never know what he'll say about the Cowboys given whatever mood he woke up in. He'll either praise Jerry and say he wasn't a meddling owner and helped him out or he'll imply Jerry is all things evil, completely hamstrung him as a coach and couldn't stay out of football matters. I think the combination of Jerry, Jimmy, the Cowboys and that time in the league led to a perfect recipe for success. Without one of those ingredients, none of the ingredients has that type of success.

Furthermore, he said his dream job (while coaching the Cowboys) was to be the HC for the Miami freaking Dolphins. I can't think of another fanbase in sports that would find that acceptable. If Joe Torre said his dream job was to coach the Oakland A's, there would have been mutiny. Either way, he got what he wanted and was more hamstrung by his new ownership and new QB than anything Jerry ever did to him. Your 'dream job' got you to 61-7, Jimmah.

I think he actively roots against the Cowboys to not win another Super Bowl because he feels that his legacy will get tarnished.

"Don't ever take sides with anyone against the family, again." - Michael Corleone

5. Troy - He's turned his back on the Cowboys and he's un-listenable when he's doing a Cowboys game. See the above quote.

my guess is that's what brought him to the organization in the first place

Yeah, guessing that is it. I'd never argue that he was Troy's most talented back up...Walsh (iffy to call him a back up at that point) Beuerlien , Kosar, Peete...seems like I'm missing someone. That win against the Packers on Thanksgiving was pretty nice. I can't say anything bad about him as a player for what he was expected to do.

Edit: Vinny Testeverde...for a year or two

I never hated any player that was on any Cowboys team....just not worth it, as I feel you root for all.
Now were there a few payers I got mad at, or didn't like as much...yes, but when they were on the field, I pulled for them to make plays.

One player I did not like was the original Mr. False Start, in Phil Pozderic. I wanted him gone, but I didn't hate him. Only hoped he didn't screw up.

Favorites are dominated by players from my youth because that's when athletes seem truly heroic. No particular order.

Chuck Howley -- Hall of Fame player who has sadly been overlooked.
Cliff Harris -- See above.
Drew Pearson -- See above.
Bob Lilly -- The best player the Cowboys ever had and the best DT of all-time.
Roger Staubach -- Not much to say. Amazing person and player.

Sentimental favorites (not great players, necessarily, but guys I really enjoyed seeing play).

Cornell Green -- Sometimes forgotten, but a bedrock player in Original Doomsday.
Don Meredith -- Got beaten up so badly on an expansion team he was all but physically spent when the team developed.
Tony Hill (the wideout) -- Made big plays.
Don Perkins -- The first outstanding Cowboys RB.
Walt Garrison -- "Just a pinch between your cheek and gum." NFL Films made a great highlight reel of his tough, pinball rushes.

I could have easily added Randy White, Charlie Waters, Too Tall Jones, Larry Allen, Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, etc. from subsequent Cowboys eras. And I don't know how to categorize Michael Irvin. In some ways, he might be my favorite Cowboys player. He is a flawed human being, as all of us are. But at his best, he is a remarkable man with an incredible story. And nobody played harder (maybe only Lilly and Randy White played as hard).

Finally. Tom Landry. The Cowboys story, as we know it, doesn't exist without Landry. A legend.

I don't "hate" any player. But some at whom I was miffed at times -- Duane Thomas (called Landry a "plastic man"). But Thomas rallied after his playing career to be an admirable man. Thomas Henderson (similar to the Thomas story). He could have been a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer -- Thomas too. Terrell Owens. Deion Sanders. Clint Longley. Dan Reeves (irrationally when I was a child I faulted him for leaving to coach the Broncos -- but hey, I was a child. Ralph Neely (I didn't understand the game enough to realize he was an outstanding player; seemed like a penalty machine).

Of course, there are the Septiens of the world... but as mentioned above, not much needs to be said.

When it comes to favorites, I could write for the rest of the day... can't believe I didn't mention Blaine Nye, or Jethro Pugh, or Darren Woodson, or Daryl Johnston, or Rayfield Wright, or on and on and on and on.

I completely forgot about Randle already...lol. I've seen people express dislike for Septien before. I must have missed something with him.
