I completely forgot about Randle already...lol. I've seen people express dislike for Septien before. I must have missed something with him.

He liked Little Girls (talking 8 years old) too much. No love for that guy, even though he was lights out as a kicker.

This is a good thread. You can easily ID the older fans from the younger fans.

Roger Staubach
Drew Pearson - My overall fav after this last year draft.
Emmit Smith
Walt Garrison
Woody

Rafael (sick) Septien
TO
Ryan Leaf
Phil Poz
Lance (psycho) Rentzel

Yeah, guessing that is it. I'd never argue that he was Troy's most talented back up...Walsh (iffy to call him a back up at that point) Beuerlien , Kosar, Peete...seems like I'm missing someone. That win against the Packers on Thanksgiving was pretty nice. I can't say anything bad about him as a player for what he was expected to do.

Edit: Vinny Testeverde...for a year or two
Romo was our best backup! :p

Seriously tho, Jon Kitna......he was brought in as a backup (I believe) and found himself the starter pretty quickly. I think he performed pretty well

Loved

1)Deion - Most talented cowboy ever
2)Demarco - His 2000 yard season was one of the most surprising and greatest things i can remeber
3) Dan Bailey - Greatest player at his position in team history (maybe league history when he's done).
4) Aikman - wasnt so much great as he was consistently good. Consumate professional.
5)Leon Lett - good player but just adorable with his comedy of errors. Loveable "loser"

Hated

1) Romo - choke after choke and having to constantly hear casuals talk about how great he was because he played well in september and october. Epitomizes the last 20 years of mediocrity

2) Irvin - Just a cringe worthy buffoon off the field. Embarassment to the team. All time great player but crappy human being off the field

3) TO - similar to Irvin but atleast he's not a criminal or i don't have to see him be a buffoon on TV every week during the season anymore.

4) Drew Henson - I hate white privilege and he epitomized it. No talent bum who constantly got opportunities he didn't deserve in life

5) Greg Hardy - Moron and a woman beating coward

Care to expand on that? How did he turn his back? It's purely subjective, but he and Buck are my favorite announce team right now. I love him. And so do my non-Cowboy-fan friends.

Try to listen to him on Cowboys games. Anytime there's a terrible call that goes against Dallas, he'll say 'that'st he right call.' Anytime there's a questionable call for Dallas he'll say 'that's a bad call.' But when you hear him in interviews discussing the Cowboys it's always very negative and he takes Jimmy's side in the Jimmy vs. Jerry situation (remember, Jimmy was the one that wanted to leave for his 'dream job' with the Dolphins). And Troy was set to make a comeback with the Dolphins...problem was he couldn't play anymore. He's also a constant Eagles apologist and I hate to tell Troy this but....the Eagles fans will always despise you.

He's softened a bit recently probably due to Jerry asking for his opinion on QB's and Dak giving him more access than Romo did, but he's shown his true colors.

Buck is a very average football announcer. Keep him away from golf coverage at all costs. I don't think either him or Troy could hold a candle to Summerall and Madden. And if TV execs ever had a brain, they would put a top notch play-by-play announcer with Chris Spielman. That guy can make any announce team look fantastic.

Wow! I did not know that. He just went to the bottom of my list.

Yeah, my list is really based more on the quality of person, more so then how good a player each might have been. Honestly, a lot of players that I would have liked to have added to the Love list. Ware was an all time great player and really quality person IMO. Don Perkins, same thing. In fact, lot of really good guys from the old days but you can only have five and who do you kick off? Same can be said for hate players. Some guys I hated for some of the crappy stuff they did would be on the list if it were not for the 5 player limit.

I never hated any player that was on any Cowboys team....just not worth it, as I feel you root for all.
Now were there a few payers I got mad at, or didn't like as much...yes, but when they were on the field, I pulled for them to make plays.

One player I did not like was the original Mr. False Start, in Phil Pozderic. I wanted him gone, but I didn't hate him. Only hoped he didn't screw up.

I believe Rafiel Septein slept with a neighbors 15 year old daughter who was babysitter or something. Trying to remember but I blocked those bad memories out years ago.

Preface: started watching football around 1990-1992 so I'm biased with the players that played during that period and after.

Love:
Irvin
Emmitt
Romo
Staubach
RW31 (Last of the enforcers. 3 years of solid to spectacular play and then lost his killer instinct)

Hate:
RW11
Terence Newman (Hated the pick. 25 year old rookie smh. Solid man-to-man but frequently gave up big plays in critical situations. Never knew how to play the ball and his last year with Dallas was garbage)
Barbie Carpenter
Felix Jones
Jerry the GM

I am still shocked I hadn't about this before now. That is just wrong.

We are pretty fortunate to have so many great players to have been members of the Cowboys for what is really one of the newer franchises in the NFL. A list of five is not enough. My best friend and I always debate our top 5 list...top 5 hottest women, top 5 best songs, top 5 cd's we would pick if we were stranded on a desert island. He is a Bears fan. I ask him for his top 5 Bears QB's and Wr's and the list is hard to come up with. I think Patrick Crayton is the Cowboy I am most upset with...he had 2 chances to to put that game away in the 2007 season playoff game vs the Giants and came up small. That and Jackie Smith dropping the ball in the Super Bowl; I was too young to see that live though.

Not being a homer, just a lifelong fan. And why do people feel the need to hate on players. I understand the in the moment hate, even if for a few weeks, but just to out right hate players, just seems to be anti-fandom....LOL...

And I am keeping it to on the field as a team...not taking into account any off the field issues....that is an entirely different animal....

If you're a "homer", Jazz, my brother, count me as one, too! As if that's some sort of insult!

Attention: to all of you that throw the "homer" word around, look around, at yourself. You're posting on a fansite 5-7 days a week and lurking 7 days a week, too. Don't throw stones in glass houses.
