Ray Lewis anyone? I'd kill to get him here. Sure he's not what he once was, but a better leader on a football field, I'm not sure I've ever seen. Something this team is in dire need of.

Zach said that he's had to changed positions this year and he needs to get back to his confort zone. He loves the Cowboys dearly, always has been his favorite team, but that nobody is playing better than Bradie James, who's an All Pro LB, and he needs to be fair to himself.

Depending on the types of changes that the Jerrator makes this year, I think he's gone.

he said that he played the mike position for 12 years and james plays that position here. it's hard to change positions after doing it for so long and it didn't work out. the guys on the radio (the ticket) automatically said "wow he's gone, he wants to go to a 4-3 team".

He wasn't a good fit here anyways.

Just a big name guy late in his career that Jerry wanted.

It was our version of Jason Taylor.

He was better for us than Taylor was for the Commanders, and he didnt cost us a high draft pick.

Ultimately he just didnt fit the scheme that well, and his play seemed to tail off more and more as the season wore on IMO. I'm not mad at him, he gave everything he had.

They asked him about his plans since he will be a FA, and he said he was going to look at it but that he played the Mike for 12 years, and that since we have a very good (overrated IMO) Bradie James, that he wants to be fair to himself and look at getting back to that position. He basically said see ya.

And as others have noted in this thread, he really hasn't been very good for us. Perhaps because he is an old dog learning a new trick...

I know 99% of the people here hate him, but maybe Carpenter will FINALLY be given a legitimate chance to earn a starting job?

Yes Iknow, he's a bust, he's soft, he's this, he's that... the only true fact is that he earned a shot at a starting job based on what he did as a rookie, and he hasn't been given one.

Wants to play more, but not in a 3-4. Ouch.

Fair enough.

I remember when he got here he said that the 3-4 protected him more and that it was a better fit for him.

Sounds like he just doesnt want to be a part of this organization. I cant blame him.

i cant say i blame him. he's undersized and the only way he is gonna be able to have great impact is by playing in the area of his comfort zone. we need younger faster LB's at MLB anyway so it would be better for both sides to part ways IMO...

Thomas is a free agent, so he can sign wherever he wants. If we doesn't want to re-sign with us, there's nothing to stop him from leaving.

I think Zach's contract was set up to be a one year deal if he hit certain incentives. So he was prolly a FA after the season anyway.

That's the lame thinking that got us here.

Need a player? Hey, let's bring in a vet with a tiny bit left in the tank!

He HAS been given a chance. The guy SUCKS. He has had his photo taken standing around more tackles than any player in NFL history.

I know that, but perhaps if the right coach is brought in here and that coach convinces him to come back, there might be a chance he does.

Zach is done. Just said because James is at the Mike position, he is OUTTA here.
Frankly, I think having Thomas made Bradie James a better player.

Last year James had to carry the load because Ayodele wasn't much help. This year, he was able to do more things and it showed later in the season when Wade started sending him on more blitzes. It happened b/c Zach could handle things on his own.

I'd hate to see him go
