I thought Robinson was the bust, Mathews was the stud, and Lewan was the solid starter.

Is Mathews playing really well? I had heard something after the first couple of games that made me think he wasn't doing as well as expected. I can't remember where I read it, but it wasn't a glowing report of him. However, if you've heard differently, then you could be correct.

Lewan I know was not starting when the season started and Tenn fans weren't thrilled with him, but again, if you've heard otherwise, then I'm not going to argue with you. I was basically going off of what I've picked up here and there since camp began.

The one thing I'm sure of is that Robinson is a massive disappointment to this point.[/quote]

I meant before the draft. I figured Mathews being well a Mathews, he would be good.

Well, something I heard made it sound like he was doing ok but not that great. Not as good as the name would imply, IOW.

I wanted Donald, then Martin.

What in Manziel's game did you like? IMO, running QBs are not successful, yes there are outliers, but I do not think they specifically will lead you to a SB. In SF and Seattle's case, it was 100% those Defenses. So, what did you like about the 6ft, running 1st QB, who has a drug problem?

I think it has little to do with running. Most drafted QB's are unsuccessful.

Look at the situation. Jake was drafted to be the eventual left tackle, but the pre season plan was to play Jake at right tackle for a season then shift him to left.

The Sam Baker is lost for the year and Jake has to shift to the left. Then the Falcons suffer massive OL injuries of all kinds. So cohesion is lost.

Now in the last game, he had a bad second half, but for a rookie thrown into a position on a bad OL, he's not doing badly.

Martin, though, is a "turn the corner" rookie. When you add that last piece, and the team starts to win, the press notices and Martin is getting good pub.

David.

I think people think, the running QB adds this whole different dimension, and want the trick pony.

As for drafted QBs, I think it is a big equation. Only so many jobs, as being the first step. Step two, would be schemes. Look at Gruden in Washington, wants nothing to do with RG3, wants a pocket gunslinger, and isn't willing to change his offense for that. When you draft a QB, you have to make sure you have the right coaches and system. You can not draft a noodle arm QB, and throw him in Norv Turner's system, he probably needs more of a west coast style.

In my mind the Bleacher Report articles are mostly captain obvious dribble. They are useful for the most part when you cannot consistently watch some of the other teams and get a feel for how they are playing. For detail and accuracy they are not resource.
