Reflecting on Zeke’s time here led me to the realization that he’s arguably the most productive player in NFL history through his first 50 games.

Edge James and LT are the only guys with more yards from scrimmage in their first 50. But Edge had 206 more yards in 137 more touches, while LT had 125 more yards in 88 more touches.

Obviously Zeke trumped both those guys in yards per touch by a lot and is just barely behind in overall yards.

I’d argue that Zeke is the most productive player in NFL history through 50 games. He actually earned that contract. Unfortunately it didn’t pan out and Zeke really only had one more good season.

Different perspective from the common view that Zeke was never worth a big deal.

If you want to discount team achievements, just look at the last 3 years. Justin Jefferson has played exactly 50 games in his career over the last 3 seasons. You think Zeke's first 50 were better than Jefferson's? Or ifg you want to stick with a RB how about Jim Brown.

Brown was only like 5-6 decades ago. He definitely had a better acting career than Zeke though!

I thought this type stuff had to be approved by CowboyRoy before it's posted. Everybody knows his take on Zeke is the most accurate. Shrugs.

Actually he did not earn that contract. Contracts are for what you are going to do not what you have done. Unfortunately that is what gets Jerry in trouble at times.

Agreed but there was no indication at the time that it was a bad investment. Zeke had his best year in 2018. Almost 1500 yards rushing and 77 catches!

Contracts aren't given out as a lifetime achievement award. Its a projection for what you'll do over the life of the deal.

So no he didn't earn that contract and yes, we're all aware of how productive he was early in his career. He was one of the main reasons why Prescott was able to sell the con that he's a real QB.

The wheels fell off very fast, dont fault him for holding out, was his only shot at the money he got. He played it very smart.
He's been injured the last two years. Open up a 2022 highlight film and rewatch those earlier games. Can't for the life of me figure out why people don;t cut him some slack on that. Meanwhile....most of these same people love Saquan. That guy will sit out in a heartbeat.

You watch....whatever team he lands on....he'll put the wheels back on if he can stay healthy.

All these other RB's we're mentioning here....who played center as the only O lineman? It's about as stupid as it comes....we mismanaged practically his whole career from over-used 1st season to his last play. Speaks a lot for the kind of player he is...while people say he has no heart or work ethic.

That ain't his fault. We hired a failed NFL QB with one year of QB coaching as our OC to "learn on the job". Absolutely stunningly stupid.

Who wanted NCAA Mountain West Passing stats instead of NFCEast power run game.

We paid Zeke....then set him aside as an Offensive line backer, while making him play hurt. Okay...asking him to. So dumb.

You’re right. I should have said he earned the right to ask for a new contract.

I don't fault him for doing it, but it's a sign that he did it so early as if he knew it was coming....so that red flag should have told Dallas not to offer that contract. He was worth a lot, but not what he was offered. It is what it is. He put his body on the line for us and was a warrior and leader at the end, but the writing was on the wall.
