A lot of negativity for Zeke.. and in some ways he deserves it.. but I actually think this franchise has killed a potential HOF RB.
Zeke was on fire in 2016.. one of the most dominate seasons by a RB in history.. let alone a rookie.. So dominate that it made Dak look so good he got rookie of the year (what a joke then and still!!)
Then he had the troubles with suspension but still turned in a decent 2017.
Then we saw the hold out, the decline in fitness and there was a change in philosophy for our OC.. and we all but ignored the run. Zeke was still producing but not in big numbers. We asked him to bulk up and we tried to 'impose our will' at the line.. and Zeke was taking hits from the heart of the D Line on every run.
Then he had a clear injury but we needed him so we sent him out on one leg for almost a whole season.
Then this year he was in GREAT shape at the start of the season.. was hitting holes and looking good.. but we have a pass happy OC that doesn't know how to scheme a run game.. and had decided that Zeke only gets the ball for tough runs up the middle.. and both Zeke and Pollard were playing complimentary football.
Then our OLine gets blown up, our OC has regular and damaging brain fades.. and Zeke AND Pollard have both looked bad for the last 3 or so weeks. Not surprisingly.. Zeke bears the brunt of the hostility on here.
Zeke is slower.. no doubt about it.. has no home run potential.. he is a sledge hammer. Why we are playing him on slow developing sweeps hoping to get to the edge.. beyond stupid. There is still a role for him IF he signs a very team friendly contract but otherwise he is just another RB that got chewed up and spat out by overuse. Lot of people hated Zeke because of the hold out.. but in the end he is showing why he did. RBs have a short shelf life.. gotta make the dollars while you can. I still think Zeke has something left to give in the league.. but I'm not sure it will be with the Cowboys.
