Ok if I'm Zeke, I'll take a settlement.
Here's my deal

  1. Drop everything, all suspension talks etc
  2. Public apology for wasting my time, and the cowboys time
  3. Cowboys get to host a Super Bowl
  4. Public apology for messing up the Dez catch in greenbay
  5. We get to swap BJones for Landon Collins
  6. He takes Taco back and gives us Reuben Foster
  7. We get Leary back
  8. Makes Belichek coach the cowboys
  9. Autographed photo of Ed Hochuli

Settlement= no suspension

Goodell is starting to get concerned that this mess plus all the other issues he's failing on might cost him that new ridiculous contract.

NFL is nervous. Implications are huge. If Zeke wins then every player who gets suspension for DV will put accuser in chair to be questioned by bunch of lawyers who will try to discredit them. NFL has way more to lose than Zeke. Now that a NY Fed judge has major problems with fundamental fairness toward Zeke the NFL is realizing it over-stepped its boundary with article 46.

Would make no sense if he's innocent.

Only if the league clears him of all guilt associated with DV. Not sure they can do that but they could claim they've never proven he's guilty of DV. Not sure they could exonerate him but I'm not sure he can be exonerated at all at this time by anyone. It still could be his best move and let time put this behind him. You just have to believe that time will heal the problem.

federal law in arbitration cases pertaining to fundamental fairness (management vs worker) supersede articles created by any organization.

Nfl probably could keep fighting it til someone sides with them because of the cba

Does it suck? Yes. Is it reality? Yes

They can say there is no evidence on the DV charge and then suspend him a game or 2 for being an idiot. lol

I don't think they would comply number 9.

Keep dreaming. NFL has 90% chance of winning in long run.

they might have in past but this case is different from any other case. I listen to about 5 attorney on this case (half pro-NFLPA, half pro-NFL). They all consider the PI by NY judge as big victory for Zeke. Its highly unlikely the returned judge from vacation will reverse the PI and will likely rule in favor of Zeke. That will send the case to appealet court and if they can show this case is different than Brady case then Zeke will win.

I'd say they can walk away in the only manner they have. They have no proof of DV. They leave it at that and don't try to discipline the player at all. I'd say this isn't the best outcome or anticipated one by the league but given the uphill battle by both sides the league is prepared IN THE INTEREST OF THE LEAGUE to abandon the legal battles and the issues surrounding it. Not sure they can afford to take that position but they are unlikely to gain anything by extracting a pound of flesh at this point.
