i agree. even though he did do a great job on that screen called back. he waited for his blocking. i think he still gets some what anxious to bust one...
Yeah i think there was a play in the Bengals game he could have broke if he waited just a 1/2 second longer for his blockers downfield But cant really complain LOL he wrecked the bengals

1:39, just make a cut! Take the yards in front of you. I care far more about getting those extra yards, which may even be enough to take it to the house, rather than making some early game statement. We all know he's tough.

I thought the same thing on that play...cut back inside and get the yards. He was looking for contact. Heck, I love watching him with the ball and will not complain about the decisions he makes.

It is always good to give people extra reason to try to hurt you. Maybe they'll get 15 extra yards while he gets carted to the locker room. Mind games!

If he wants to see a second (big) contract, he should learn to avoid contact when he can instead avoid tacklers to gain yardage. M. Barber sends his regards from whatever frayed remains still exist of his future.

You'd think that players would look at and listen to the NFL career rushing yardage king who spent most of his time trying to avoid unnecessary hits. He even waited for a teammate or opponent to help him up to conserve energy.

There was a run vs. Philly where Zeke broke a tackle to get to the 2nd level but was stumbling. He regained his balance and still trucked Malcolm Jenkins even though he had lost all of his momentum. He's an animal.

While I don't mind him making a statement as a matter of fact, I think these particular comments may come off to some opponents as disrespectful and get him targeted.

With respect to his running style, while I LOVE his physical brand of football, I do think Zeke AT TIMES emphasizes "tone setting" over making the defender miss for bigger yardage. There was one example in a recent game (pretty sure it was the Bengals) where he took a pass out of the backfield/flat and then just turned up field and made a direct bee line to the defender (DB). Yeah, he "won" that exchange and it did indeed set a physical tone, but even the announcer commented about Zeke potentially having an opportunity to make the defender miss for a bigger gain. Zeke is certainly capable of making defenders miss (had a really nice reverse cut against GB where he probably juked 4-5 guys for an extra 20 yds or so) but he seems to look for contact a bit too much for my taste (and for the sake of his long-term health).

I remarked to myself in watching a couple of his runs in recent games that he'd do well to learn from Emmitt who was a master at making people miss in the whole and at the second level...this too me was one of Emmitt's underrated qualities. If you watch some of his highlight reels (one example attached), you'll see how amazing he was at spin moves as well as what I call "the matador"...where he did a quick side step while shoving the defender with his off hand (typically his right since he carried most of the time in his dominant left hand) - much of the time resulting in much bigger gains or even taking it to the house. I would like to see Zeke use similar approaches as opposed to looking to lower the boom...but when all else fails, by all means...LOWER AWAY! :)

I wish he would stop giving it away that he is looking to set the tone early.

He's going to get everyone's best when he keeps talking like that.

And he can take it, sure. But the cumulative effect is not what we want.

He can say whatever he wants, it's up to them to prove otherwise. Is it bulletin board material? Who cares? Unless they plan to hit him with a bulletin board it doesn't matter. He's more physical than they are.
