If they suspend now maybe Jerry doesn't attend and pulls the Cowboys out of the game. That is what I would do. Time to stop playing around and let Roger know you are serious.

Since Jerry has already been vocal about this there is no chance they're going to sneak it past him. I think the NFL is not announcing it because if they did Jerry would have a pulpit with the whole world watching in order to make Goodell very uncomfortable.

If you think someone as self centered as jerry will give an iota of 'his time in the sun' thinking about Zeke, you're mistaken

I wonder if the NFL is delaying any Zeke decision until after the HoF Weekend in order to not distract or embarrass Jerry during his glory time?

Yes, I called this a few weeks ago. They will wait until the following week or two.

I think you're sadly mistaken if you don't think Jerry Jones would take any opportunity to push his agenda.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Wouldn't Jerry be pissed off anyway with the 24/7 sports story that the lead independent investigator is a Huge Giants Fan with season tickets?

He already "accosted" Friel last year.
-----

In a story that has gone widely underreported but was resurfaced by ESPN this week, Jones approached Lisa Friel, the NFL’s investigator on cases of domestic violence, and raised his voice. Friel is in the process of investigating Cowboys rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott regarding several claims of domestic assault.

According to ESPN, Jones insinuated to Friel that both of them will end up unemployed if such an investigation continues.

Here’s the report, from ESPN:

Jones said he recognized that investigations were her bread and butter and ended the conversation with: “Your bread and butter is going to get both of us thrown out on the street,” according to ESPN The Magazine reporter Seth Wickersham, who witnessed the encounter, which was reported by Outside the Lines. Other witnesses downplayed Jones’ intensity.

A public relations person immediately led Jones out of the hotel bar.

Because there is going to be a backlash either way...

Might as well wait until after HOF inductions.
I doubt there will be a backlash if he's cleared. The public don't care. Now Mara and some other owners might because they want to stick it to us.

Some people already think he is guilty. I just read an article already claiming the NFL is losing another PR battle by not penalizing Zeke yet.

Goodell and the NFL have been labeled as lenient against domestic abuse..that's one of the reasons why the investigation has taken this long.

If he is suspended...only Cowboy fans will care. If he's not? You have feminist groups, other fans that hate all cowboys and possibly major news networks paying attention.

Except she's admitted in texts that she was out to get Zeke and pressured others to lie. That should have been the end of it right there. The media likes to cause trouble. It's the only way they get people to watch them only it's having the opposite effect.

I don't disagree with you at all. I don't believe he should be suspended and I expect him to fight it if he is suspended.

I could just see some backlash if he is not suspended. Media is reporting he will likely be suspended---supposedly owners are pressuring for a suspension so Jerry doesn't get special treatment. If he is not suspended, it would be a surprise. Most non Cowboy fans hate the Cowboys and want him to be guilty/suspended so there will definitely be a story.

No chance. Public figure exception.
In the context of defamation actions (libel and slander) as well as invasion of privacy, a public figure cannot base a lawsuit on incorrect harmful statements unless there is proof that the writer or publisher acted with actual malice (knowledge of falsity or reckless disregard for the truth).

Accusing someone of domestic violence with no proof and implementing punishment is malice if I'm on a jury. It is an incorrect harmful statement with malice.

Good thought, but this is exactly why the NFL is delaying the announcement - if negative.

However, after Jerry's had his enshrinement, I fully expect him to be in *** booting mode RE any and all future punishment, as a matter of course.

Just imagine if the NFL had attempted that BS w both us the Washington recieving salary cap penalties after Jerry was in the Hall? After Saturday, they've got nothing left on Jerry, and I expect he'll make us smile more than a few times in the future, considering.

Jerry should have told Goodell this week...no decision by Thursday Dallas doesn't play in the Hall of Fame game and I won't be at the ceremony...Goodell needs to learn he's the employee of the NFL...
