I think it will be a last minute decision before the 15th. Just like many restructures, cuts, signing of own players.
If he would agree to something like 3 years for $10 million, I think he could still have a role in this team. And I think it would be better than another veteran running back trolling the market for someone else to pay him for a year or two.

And Dallas spends 10 million on a tag for Pollard, who’s leg was wrecked by a drop tackle.

But the Zeke haters get butt hurt over Zekes wallet.

Lol
Just because Pollard's tag being a questionable decision doesn't justify keeping Elliott around at a big cap hit.

Leave it to a Zeke fanboy to justify a bad decision by trying to cover it with another bad decision.

Elliot was never going anywhere. Right or wrong, overpaid or not. They want the leadership and dirty work he does. When they started talking bout all the things Elliot does, that should've told you guys their intentions. What have they talked about?

Daks contract, did it.
Tyron, not cut
Elliot, not cut
Pollard, franchise tag possible, did it

This team just doesn't lie. They tell you what they're going to do and they do it.
There's no doubt they would prefer him back.

But the reality is it's a questionable decision. This team struggles with moving on from guys. They are likely repeating here with Elliott.

Just get rid of zeke, I almost want to keep him as a full back short yardage back but he’s not healthy and isn’t having surgery so nothing is gonna get better. Then Pollard has a broken leg. Draft 2 RBs rounds 2-4 and start over.

Sure would be nice to use Zekes money on a productive player at another position of need instead of flushing it on him and wasting a roster spot

I would redo Zeke contract at a lower term. Great short yardage runner, can kill clock when needed and is second to none on blocking on passing downs. Drafting another RB would be stupid when you just have to get the numbers right with the ones you have.

Well according to this writer anyway.
I posted this as I did not know about Zeke's contract. I never seen it posted in any of the many off-season threads about his contract.

If Zeke does not take a pay cut, the team can simply restructure without him agreeing to it. It would save $7.3 million on the cap.
I know many want him gone, for various reasons. But thought I would put this out there for a different perspective. I know, just kicking the can down the road. But it is an option.
If we bring him back...we truly are as dumb as the haters on this board say.

Money isnt the biggest issue, its that they give him the football and he drags down the offense.
It's a big issue if it causes our cap money to deplete and prevent others from joining the team. Our FO wants him back -- It's an issue in itself.

They sure are interviewing a lot of running backs that are in the upcoming draft.

Keeping Zeke as part of this FO’s plan for 2023 is a microcosm of the last 27 years. It’s hard for me to believe they are serious about winning a championship if they keep Zeke around.
It doesn't seem like they will with the draft being so deep at running back and they have 9 picks. The back they draft will be an upgrade and is a lot cheaper. They pretty much can take a back in any round. They are likely to take 1 somewhere . They interviewed Gibbs and if they take him, it would have to be with their 1st pick because he wouldn't make it to 58.

Jerry Jones is infatuated with selling a product. That product is the glitz and glamour of superstar players wearing the shiny star and those $300 jerseys. Zeke sells those jerseys. It's gonna be really hard for Jerry to give up #21. Regardless what he does on the field. It's sad for Dallas fans who are looking for ways to improve the team.

Didn't think about just doing a restructure with him, but I could see Dallas considering that to be an option. I'm not as against Dallas keeping Elliott as many on here are, but if we're going to do it, I hope it comes with a pay cut as his salary is too much for a complementary role. I also want to reiterate that we should still draft a back within the first four rounds even if we keep Elliott. We don't know how quickly or even if Pollard will fully recover or how much Elliott has left. The tandem was pretty good for most of the season until Pollard got banged up and Elliott ran out of gas.

Not when they draft a running back and have Pollard, rookie, and Davis.
They will still be paying Zeke in this scenario too. I don't disagree with your line-up though- but I'll bet management finds a way to keep Zeke on the roster (whether or not that's best).

Zeke, at his current cap hit, is a big problem.

And the Cowboys could compound it by doing something dumb like a restructure.
Exactly!!!

Only options are release Zeke or have him take a massive paycut, at least 50% minimum.

No other options are viable.
