We all have an opinion about the player and the person that gets discussed often. But whats clear to me is how good the timing for his holdout is. Zeke is getting out ahead of two major processes before they developed fully:

1. Dak Prescott can't carry this team.....Yet! This current team is Zeke dependent until Dak changes the dynamics on the field. Stephen is on record as seeing RBs as interchangeable pieces with a short shelf life. The Jones don't want this to be Zeke dependent team but it is. Drafting a RB that high was an ideological mismatch the Cowboys were forced to make to extend Tony Romo career. That mismatch now wants to be highest paid at his position. Zeke knows the window might be closing on team being so dependent on him as signs point to Dak taking step forward. Zeke leverage (dependency on the field) is at its peak.

2. Four core FA contracts expire within a year (Dak, Cooper, Jaylon Smith, Byron Jones). Zeke new deal isn't due until 2 years so his fear is that other 4 will leverage Jones to over-pay and leave limited funds for him. Once again he is getting out ahead of this.

I would not be surprised to see Zeke’s holdout extend well into the regular season. Hopefully Jerry will keep his strong stance.

This is a great opportunity for Dak to play well and further demonstrate that he’s earned a big contract.

Spot on.

No player that’s isn’t a QB will have more of an impact on the game than Zeke. He knows he is worth more than DeMarcus Lawrence. Sure he plays RB...
But if I am being honest and if 1 of these guys went down for the season we would be better off with Zeke over Lawrence.

No player, outside a few qbs, have any leverage during the off-season. Their leverage starts, or MIGHT start, the first game of the season. When the team shows they can't win without him, he has the leverage. But on the opposite side, if the team shows they can win without him, he has negative leverage, If that's a thing.

Bunch of ********. Linehan is the one who couldn’t carry this offense not Dak.

I'll quickly agree with the pointed observance about midway thru # 1) about that part in trying to extend the playing career of our former #9 (,,,er,,,unfortunately ,coach Garrett was prolly hungover & misinterpreted the meaning of the Emailed memo),,,now, it's serious time: Romo had been out in front /visibly being the #1 advocate in resigning/ retaining the #29 , ya know? I'm thinking that 2014 season he'd enjoyed with having Demarco in his backfield was the first time he'd actually realized the great possibilities that were easily available just by having a solid producer that could shoulder some of that burdened load he'd been saddled with, he definitely appeared to be crushed&on the verge of tears,on that day when the #29 thunder stomped off to greener pastures.

The only thing positive if the above occurs is that we will have a top 5 pick in Rich QB 2020 draft.
That's dumb...why would we draft a QB?..going to pay Dak 30 mil a year ...rout for who we are NOT who you want us to be...called supporting your team

Just pay Zeke.

The market pays elite RB's very well. Zeke is 50 percent under that rate. See TGurley/Bell. 57.5 million

Zeke had 2000 yards of offense last year.

Just pay him and get back to football.

If I agreed with (1), I might think you had a good point. But I don't agree with (1) and I'm not sure the Cowboys do either.

We had a top 4 pick in 2016. Goff, wentz, and fortunately, lynch got away. Not very prudent to build your team based on next years draft. Everyone wants a franchise qb.

If we pass protect and play good defense, this team can win games without Zeke. Which is good, if he holds out or gets suspended again.

Hard call. Dallas might be one of few teams who can actually lose games due to RB hold-out. NE or Philly would laugh at a RB hold-out and absolutely not lose games because of it. On other hand this might set up perfectly for Dak to come in and become the focal point. But I felt same way in Zeke suspension year but that went the wrong way.
