Zeke watch - The rushing title is in the bag

No it means Romo wasn’t anywhere close to what one is claiming and the experts says Romo’s injury was standard football trauma that anybody would have suffered, considered the biomechanics of what cause it, and it isn’t career threatening at all.

Manning on the other hand played with a fused veterebrae in his neck and got a SB out of it.
Yes and Romo had injury after injury. Quality of life is most important after the game is over

Like Aaron Rodgers.. not sure how one doesn’t ride a beast when he finally has Zeke being him and an all-pro OL playing at such a high level and throwing much better than the bum in practice and on the field, all the while acknowledging you got a short SB window with Romo..

Check this out. Zeke made Todd Gurley quit. He got tired of chasing him so he no showed the game today.

I'm not surprised. He never had the cranium to get this done.

All hail Ezekiel Elijah Elliott. The Rushing King.

Zeke 1,434
(I'm a wittle) Gurley 1,251
Barkley 1,198

Understand this, if the NFL Commissioner was a man, Zeke would have started his career with three rushing titles his first three years in the league. His numbers with those games missed and the removal of the distraction of the suspension last year would put him at or near the most productive RB in the history of the NFL 3 years into his career.

Sure, he's had a good to great line those three years but he's also played with a God awful QB and no passing game. You play Dallas, you sell out to stop Zeke. He carries the load every week starting week 1 of his rookie year. There is no burden lifted off of him ever.

Special player. He's easily one of the greatest players to ever wear that uniform.

Gurly getting hurt is a poor way to win it, but so be it.

MVP RBs get TDs or run for over 2k. Love Zeke but he's no MVP

You’re missing the point of my post.

Your post actually reinforces what I said.

I’m saying it’s a shame the MVP is slanted towards QB’s. It’s a shame it’s just about who has the best stats. The award doesn’t go to the most valuable player.

I don’t care if Zeke doesn’t have 2k yards rushing. He is the most valuable player to the cowboys team and maybe in the whole league. The cowboys would be 4-12 without him.

Let’s not overlook the fact that yesterday he also broke the Cowboys record for receptions by a running back in a single season. He has 77 so far this year.

While it is questionable who is the best at any position in the league, Zeke is a top 3 whenever on the field. I'd actually have him as an easier number one if he had a top 25% level QB
Definitely agree, all three have pros and cons that are pretty minor. You pretty much have to nit pick to determine who you think is better. 6 fumbles compared to zero is pretty big to me though. YPC, not total yards, is another good indicator and the O line is obviously a big factor.

I shouldn’t be surprised but it’s amazing and funny to me how many people get butt hurt just because I think Zeke is the 2nd to 4th best RB in the league and back it up with logical statistics.

Fans bash Dak all day but god forbid I say something negative about our best player or say he’s very good but not the best...

Skipped to the last page - more Romo talk...

Peace out!.............................................

I totally agree. Linehan is slowly killing him with predictable runs up the middle.

When we drafted Zeke with the #4 pick people laughed....but in truth the Cowboys showed how relevent a top RB still is in this pass happy league we're in these days......since then other teams have jumped back on board of drafting RB's with high picks agan......Barkley, Gurley, Fournette, etc.....once again the league is following the Cowboys lead.

The biggest what if, is Romo getting a chance to play with Zeke the year he should have gotten his job back. Wasted opportunity and possibly dumbest football decision in history.

I really wish people would let this go.

1. Romo would have lasted maybe a game and a half before being injured again.

2. And once again, it was our defense that killed us in the playoffs; so not sure Romo even helps us there.

It sucks that the stars never aligned for Romo. But 2016 wasn't some missed opportunity for him. It was 2014 redux.

Now it’s a game and a half when the OL was playing it’s best ever.. we had 5 games for a SB run.. just stop with this nonsense he would have only lasted maybe a game and a half..

Romo didn’t have Sean Lee in 2014 the whole year in his first year with Linehan.

Are you for real? The worlds greatest line ever wouldn't have kept Romo clean 100% of the time. The dude got hurt in the PRESEASON of the same year with the same line you're lauding.

Romo didn't have Sean Lee? Who cares? Sean Lee didn't keep the Packers from scoring 34 points. You could easily say the 2016 Cowboys didn't have 2014 Rolando McClain.

I loved Tony Romo. I spent countless hours defending him on rival MBs and social media. I had two of his jerseys. As TO would say, he was my quarterback.

But, holy crap, let it go.

Great QB's don't overcome bad defenses in the playoff gauntlet; never have. Especially ones who can't take a hit anymore.

Did you watch the play where Romo got hurt? Dude didn’t even train all season long, because he couldn’t while recovering from a surgery and was chunky and he slid wkwardly when the DL fell on him, while Romo was in a sitting position. It had nothing to do with being brittle.

By week 8 of the healing process, like the spine doctors said and doing work, Romo lost the weight and was practicing for weeks.

This is the idiocy of these posts...

Bad Luck and being brittle are not the same things. And saying one shouldn’t start the best QB on the roster by a MILE because one fears he would get hurt is ultimate idiocy.

And that was never the reason in Jerry’s Workd anyways, meaning their decision was based on the ‘run’, while knowing Romo was light years better than this dude.

It didn't take me long to find it again, but this quote summed it up for me at the time:

How common is this injury? According to Dr. Robert Watkins Jr., orthopedic spine surgeon and co-director of the Marina Spine Center in Marina del Rey, California, it is relatively infrequent among professional athletes.

"Compression fractures are common in the elderly with weak bones but are pretty rare in young athletes," said Watkins, who treats numerous athletes of all levels.

Romo was breaking down. I mean, his back was already at risk in 2014 when he was 34. This was 2 years later. At age 36. After missing almost an entire season with other broken bones.

He gave this team everything and by 2016 there was nothing left. It sucks, but you know it's true.

LVE hit Marcus Mariota the same way this year and Marcus popped right back up.

You clearly don’t know what your reading. Romo isn’t a young athlete, but it is not uncommon for athletes and it’s definitely not uncommon for how it happened.

There are two main forces at play during any spinal compression fracture – compression and flexion. Romo experiences downward compression the spine from gravity and Cliff Avril, and he experiences the upwards compression of the ground on his spine as he lands. He experiences flexion, or forward bending, as a result of Avril’s forward momentum following the impact.

It’s the flexion or forward bending when Avril at close to 300 points hit him while he was in the sitting position . Getting fractured like that would happen to anybody. It wasn’t Avril just falling on Romo while he was down, meaning it wasn’t the result of the hit, it was the ‘load bearing issue’. Guys get hernias for bad bending just by picking something heavy up.

And none of what you said deals with recovery and whether or not it prevents people from playing again.

Although the injury may take up to 10 weeks to fully heal, the good news is that compression fractures have relatively low rates of recurrence, meaning he should be able to make a full recovery and put the injury behind him. That being said, Romo is 36 years old. This likely won’t be the last hit he’ll take on a football field, but at this stage in his career, another spine injury could force him into retirement. We wish him the best of luck with his recovery.
