Detroits run defense is not good. It's actually a very favorable matchup for the 5 time World Champions.

The Giants pushed them around at times last week.

I started drooling thinking about what Zeke was going to do to them if they don't step up in a big way.

Zeke get more than 15 carries this week?
I believe it depends on how well his first 10-15 carries go.
Zeke likes these records. I realized that watching the last Mic'd up where he knew he broke the TD record. The he asked the trainer about the ball when he went for 1k yards. His line wants him to get the record also.

If he comes out and is very productive then I can see them letting him run.

I know I'm stupid, but I don't get why fans actually care about rookie records.

Because we're fans, and we want our players to have as many records as possible. :)
It's further objective validation our team/players are the best. :)

This isn't just a regular rookie record. It's Eric Dickersons record. It would be cool to have it with this team for many many years.

I get it...team wins matter most blah blah blah...

But who won the 1996 AFC divisional round playoff game? You can't remember can you? No one can.
But who hold the NFL all time rookie rushing record? See...individual records matter also.

It's all just a fun diversion to avoid thinking about the fact that we are all going to die anyway.

This is a unique long standing record that can only be broken by another rookie, so it is a big deal.
I would like to see him get it and be rushing champ, which he already about has wrapped up.
If he doesnt do much these next two games, it is possible Murray catches up to him.

Rushing Yards Leaders - All Players
RK PLAYER TEAM ATT YDS YDS/A LONG 20+ TD YDS/G FUM 1DN
1 Ezekiel Elliott, RB DAL 310 1,551 5.0 60 13 13 110.8 5 88
2 DeMarco Murray, RB TEN 268 1,224 4.6 75 4 9 87.4 3 61
3 Le'Veon Bell, RB PIT 241 1,146 4.8 44 3 6 104.2 3 60
4 David Johnson, RB ARI 260 1,138 4.4 58 5 13 81.3 4 62
5 LeSean McCoy, RB BUF 205 1,129 5.5 75 11 12 86.8 3 50
6 Lamar Miller, RB HOU 268 1,073 4.0 45 7 5 76.6 2 52
7 LeGarrette Blount, RB NE 265 1,060 4.0 44 7 15 75.7 2 59
8 Jordan Howard, RB CHI 211 1,059 5.0 69 8 6 81.5 1 55
9 Jay Ajayi, RB MIA 212 1,007 4.8 62 9 7 77.5 4 49
10 Melvin Gordon, RB SD 254 997 3.9 48 7 10 76.7 2 61

like 2014 EE has 42 more carries than Murray and Miller, all others have less than 268.
I now see Murray is 325 yds behind, so unless EE just doesnt play, no way him or bell can catch him yds wise.

oh, bad example. That was the year we got knocked out by the 2nd-year Carolina Panthers, which reminds me that both expansion teams made it to their respective conference championships that year, so one of the AFC winners was the Jaguars. That was also the first of Favre's SB wins, which came over the Patriots, so the Pats were the other. Pretty memorable AFC playoffs that season, actually.

We don't know how his body is holding up. Only the coaches, trainers, and Zeke really know for sure. As a fan if he is holding up well I'd LOVE to see him get it. He is so darn close and it would be a huge record to tumble. But my pragmatic side says that JG won't let play enough to get it.

Elliott doesn't lead the league in yards-per-attempt on 1st down (that would be Carlos Hyde). Personally, I'm still partial to the OL being MVP.

I would agree except for the P part of MVP. Of course, the V part has been ignored for a long time.

It's the probowls and MVP talk I don't get. I just think how much cap room and MVP title is going to take up in a few years.

Either good Google skills or crazy memory....only you know. Haha

I watched every playoff game for many years and even with your description I can't bring that one back.
Good job.

Just memory on that one. If you'd said, say, 1998, I'd have no clue. But 1996 was the end of the Cowboys big run, so I remember that quite well. Losing to a second-year expansion team, ugh. And Favre finally got in because he didn't have to face us to get there.

Is this true?
Was just watching NFL Matchup. Jaws said Zeke averages like 6 yards per run on 1st downs. He said Detroit gives up 5.6 yards per run on 1st downs. So I wonder if I heard him right on the 6 yards per carry.
And that the Dallas OL uses a double duo blocking scheme on 4-3 defenses as to where they double team block the DT's. Then let Zeke sit back, and pick a hole to run through.

Game Film experts, any thing to this ?

If this is so, I predict Zeke goes for 150 to 175, but sure would like it if he get close to 200.
Yes, they like to double team the DTs. Usually it's one DT that get doubled, but at times they'll double team block both. The second double will sometimes come from having Free block down to help Martin while a TE blocks the DE. They will even use 2 TEs to block the DE at times.

I think it is big for the player as well more so than the fan. Zeke and the OL can make NFL history and who would not want to make NFL history? If records were not important in sports they would not keep records. All the records Emmitt broke were important to him and to the team.

I think it depends. If he is having big success I think he will get 20+ carries
It a long time till we play a meaningful game so a pitch count is not as important this week

I think Zeke gets his usual 22-25 carries and finishes with 130. Detroit is missing key players in the secondary which will limit their ability to load up the box. If he's able to break a long one, that total shoots up to 160+.
This exactly
