WARNING this is not a cash bash thread!!!!!!

Has anyone noticed how Zeke does what Leveon Bell does when he runs the ball, it's like a hesitation thing. Has anyone noticed this, how do you feel about it?? Like it or it doesn't bother you?????

In his NFL debut against the Giants he was running up the backs of his blockers. He talked about how he had to settle down and be more patient after that game.

- As well as Linehan and Garrett were trying to run him particularly on mostly delay handoffs, which Ohio State used extensively with Zeke .
before even Emmitt Smith said they need to consider letting Zeke run downhill (deep handoff) instead of asking him to stop/re-start, and juke-dodge defenders at the line ,

its called patience

Zeke and Bell have very different running styles, IMO. Both are patient and have great vision but Bell makes way more lateral cuts than Zeke, especially near the LOS (kind of looks like a bunny hopping around). Zeke usually has one, maybe two cuts, and then gets N-S in a hurry.

I don't know what the OP is talking about. Zeke is as good as any active RB in the league.

Because you clearly haven't opened your brain, I'm not bashing him just noticing that he's being patient instead of hitting the hole

It's just what the great runners do. Most backs just don't have the patience or vision to actually pull it off. Very difficult in the NFL with monster DTs that still run sub 5 40 times to sit back and let your blockers do their jobs, but once guys trust their lineman, and trust their own abilities they are better runners because of it.

- I've stated several times how Zeke is a one cut runner, and coming out of Ohio State, i've often compared him to Adrian Peterson as similar one cut runner,
with the power to run thru tacklers, but also possessing a sensational burst to hit the home run TD. (although he no longer has that special burst)
Like AP, Elliott is not over elusive. He's not gonna shake and out juke defenders in the open field.

- Bless him but i would not want a runner with Levion Bell's style of hesitation running. That's too much stop and re-starting, behind the line.
and i'd want/prefer a RB whose legs and momentum is going forward without stopping.

- And maybe it's a reason why Bell has been made into a journeyman. Maybe that style is not inspiring or encouraging to most offensive coaches.

- I see that Alex Collins with Seattle and see all of that " herky-jerky " movement and dancing behind the line, and it actually leads to hesitated tackles for losses

It is called setting up the block. Zeke is allowing the block to happen before he hits the hole.

zekes having great year and has had great career and still we have to sit and debate his importance to this team..

his running style has led to his very successful career..

if our OL is blowing big holes open every snap he would hesitate and be less patient , issue is on most plays you have to wait spilt second to see if the designed hole is actually there and if not choose another..hes been very good this year finding right spot to hit, spin , cut back, stretch etc etc

ive seen every move zeke has had be used this year and he seen right more times then not.

personally i'd imagine it had more to do w/ his year off and the accompanying headache, along with some slippage in skills. there was no denying his impact at his peak

But you'll take the liberty to bash me? Be a better poster. Why do you needlessly stab at someone like that? When you show your arse like that, any point you may have had becomes moot. This is a family atmosphere. We don't teach our kids to be jerks so don't give them that example.

Zeke actually stated himself that he needed to slow down and that watching Bell gave him the inspiration for it. It doesn't bother me at all as long as he continues to hover up around 5 yards per carry. Yes it looks weird especially juxtaposed next to Pollards 100 mph running on every tote. But it allows him to be a more effective back overall. Sometimes it takes the line a second or two to complete their blocks.. You have to wait for it to develop or you run up the backs of your linemen a half second before a huge hole opens 2 feet to the left. Thing is, when you run that way you HAVE to have blocking. If the blocking fails it looks terrible. I think Zeke is still learning when to wait and when he has to hit it 100 mph like Pollard. It's a balancing act. All backs have to go through it. I do think Moore does him a disservice when he keeps running him out of shotgun.. I think Zeke is best running downhill.. It gives a better view of the line and the defense as the play unfolds and gives him greater momentum and power when he gets to the point of attack. He CAN run okay out of shotgun.. but I just don't think he runs as well from that look as from the deep set.

He’s a patient runner. The way he runs combined with his excellent pass blocking should allow him to have a long NFL career.

i actually think it's gonna be just the opposite, his power head on, angry running style and the pounding toll he takes both in running, and blitz blocking is gonna take an eventual wear n tear toll
on his body and a short lived career.
Without the ability to run away from tacklers, he's having to take them on more so. And its been very rare RBs (ala Jerome Bettis) that have lasted so long with such a power oriented pounding style.

The Garrett regime totally over-toll him, imo.
They bulked him up and wanted him to be more bell cow ala Emmitt Smith, and i believe all of that has taken a toll and away that unique burst he came in 2016 with,
and we did a poor job is implementing a legit solid relief No.# 2 backup RB ( Alfred Morris, Rod Smith) ...
