Zeke's Running Style

WARNING this is not a cash bash thread!!!!!!

Has anyone noticed how Zeke does what Leveon Bell does when he runs the ball, it's like a hesitation thing. Has anyone noticed this, how do you feel about it?? Like it or it doesn't bother you?????

That is so against what all running backs are taught, it is get thru that hole as quick as ya can, it won't be there long. Ah.......if it is now "just pick a hole" news to me.

21 Quick.....2 back the tailback thru the 1 hole (left guard and center)

Sanders was so rarely unique in his own ...in NFL history

..but keep going ..name another ...
I Wasn't trying to be combative. There are definitely exceptions.

It's my opinion that Detroit wasn't as bad as some say. Sanders maybe could have hit the hole better, but his style was to wait.

YMMV.

Patient running. Wouldnt compare him to prime Leveon Bell. That dude could change direction and start / stop on a dime.

i would have liked to have seen Sanders under better coaching, as Lions seemed to have their minds made up that he is simply a "space runner " as he
was pulled in most goal line situations.

And another tip bit is .. had Barry not retired " suddenly" as he was still playing on a high level when he went out, .. I have doubts that Emmitt would have caught up
with him with NFL All time rushing leader. And that's a guy who had a far inferior OL than what Emmitt enjoyed immensely.

One of his better assets is his patience letting the blocks get set up. He's been pretty fantastic this season. The biggest thing that jumps off the screen to me is his rediscovering getting to the corner. The last couple years he didn't have the burst to make it.

Zeke is doing his job. Not sure of the Leveon Bell hesitation thingy. He may not be getting 100 yards a game, but he's picking up blitzes and getting those hard fought yards that are needed. Leave Ezekiel alone!! LOL :D

Great to see him doing those things for the team. Emmitt was also a good blocker when needed.

To me get us to the big one again and bring home the Lombardi and I'm happy.

As I have already said....I don't think that team....including o-line...was as bad as some people think. Barry's style was more wait, dance, east west....then hitting whatever hole did get made.
Just my opinion. I don't put a lot of stock in it.

He has played well. Good blocking and running. Patient runner. Good burst and can take it to the house. That catch and run to set us up for the win was almost broke for a TD.

I thought it was going to be 4th & about 4 when he caught that ball. And I thought it might score when he split the defenders and had the last DB one on one. Unfortunately, he just got tripped a little otherwise he would’ve trucked that DB to the house. That was a leadership play by Zeke.

I have watched guys like Jones when he was in Dallas just run up the backs of OL, never allowing the block to be set and then hitting the hole. Zeke allows the block to happen then hits the hole, I see him doing more this season trying to avoid tacklers than in past where he seem to look for someone to run over.

And over 203 attempts without fumbling the ball. ..the longest streak of his career.

I think his focus and self-confidence is back, ..as well as improved and harder effort on his ball security technique.
His fumbling was never as bad as it was last year.

Yep and that was the play he got tackled funny. Looked like how Dak got tackled and broke his leg. Was happy to see him get up.

He was definitely hesitating and indecisive at times in Sunday. His questionable vision showed up.

Zeke actually stated himself that he needed to slow down and that watching Bell gave him the inspiration for it. It doesn't bother me at all as long as he continues to hover up around 5 yards per carry. Yes it looks weird especially juxtaposed next to Pollards 100 mph running on every tote. But it allows him to be a more effective back overall. Sometimes it takes the line a second or two to complete their blocks.. You have to wait for it to develop or you run up the backs of your linemen a half second before a huge hole opens 2 feet to the left. Thing is, when you run that way you HAVE to have blocking. If the blocking fails it looks terrible. I think Zeke is still learning when to wait and when he has to hit it 100 mph like Pollard. It's a balancing act. All backs have to go through it. I do think Moore does him a disservice when he keeps running him out of shotgun.. I think Zeke is best running downhill.. It gives a better view of the line and the defense as the play unfolds and gives him greater momentum and power when he gets to the point of attack. He CAN run okay out of shotgun.. but I just don't think he runs as well from that look as from the deep set.
Nonsense. You need both. If the hole is there you need to burst through it not hang around. And if your hitting the outside you can’t hesitate. Especially zeke.

Sometimes I do think Zeke would do better running with a full head of steam, but I cannot really complain about his play this year.
