Zero Turnovers

After starting off the game looking like we were going to put Cutler in the hospital, we went another game without a turnover, forced or otherwise.

I find this absolutely incredible.

A lot of what it takes to get a turnover is discipline that ends up looking like luck. A prime example of this is the play where the ball deflected off the Bears receiver and Newman, having no trust in his team mate to make the tackle, chased after the player instead of looking for the ball.

In comparison, the ball flies off the hands of a Cowboy player and one guy goes after the player while the other gives up on the player and anticipates the bounce of the ball.

I don't know how you fix something like this. I refuse to believe we are the most unlucky football team in the world and never get any lucky bounces, you have to prepare yourself to take advantage of luck and we just don't seem prepared.

Well, Orlando Scandrick and Terence Newman both have terrible ball skills. In combination with safeties who haven't shown they can get their hands on anything, you can't expect turnovers. That really only covers the interception part of the equation. Other than the occasional strip sack, I feel like this team isn't coached to try to take the ball away from carriers. How many punches at the ball do you see this team attempt? When you watch other teams, as soon as they gang up on a guy, players begin hitting at the ball.

If we can't pick Cutler off, I'm not sure we'll pick any QB off. We haven't come close to forcing any turnovers in the two games so far. On a brighter note, our offense hasn't turned.....Never mind.

The offense is struggling and they know they can't depend on the defense to get the ball back and change momentum. Special teams is messing up field position too. Everything just sucks right now.

IMO no defense can be great if they don't force turnovers. That may just be my thinking though. Whatever great talent you think we have, if they don't make game changing plays than I will never consider them great.

That bounce was way wide of Newman. He never had a chance at it.

If Jenkins is hurt, I bet we play more zone and that might lead to some INTs. But of course then it'll be that we allow too many 8-yard catches.

I agree.

We made Cutler look like an all pro God out there. That is all that needs to be said about their performance.

I'm really tired of hearing how great this defense is. They are not. Never has been great.

That was my point, he committed to chasing down the receiver, even before he had the ball, because he didn't trust his team mate to make the stop.
