I don't want him as HC, but they DID play better as they got used to Zimmer's system and he asserted his way over trying to run it more like Quinn. Bringing him back for a second year as DC isn't completely stupid, but we should get new blood for all coaching positions, not that it will matter much with Jerry in charge.

Predicted this day one of his return. It's why Jerry took so long to bring in a DC instead of plugging in someone already on the staff for a throwaway season. He wanted to make sure he had the next puppet lined up. Only way it's not Zimmer is if they want Garrett 2.0.

Zimmer sounds like he's willing to put the ball in Jerry's court to decide his ultimate fate. Whether that means to be the HC or retain his status as the defensive coordinator, remains to be seen. Jerry might not get a better offer than that, in view of the potential happenings. I'm glad to hear it.

One game isn’t the sum of the whole of an entire season, even if you continue to scream shrilly and vigorously stomp your wittle foot!

Detroit has seemed to continue to do OK.

The game has passed Zimmer by… nothing to be ashamed of.. it happened to much better coaches… Landry, Shula, Knoll.
The rest of the league recognized that reality as evidenced by him sitting for 4 seasons. They gave him the benefit of the doubt… all doubt has been dispelled!

Notice how Detroits offense has to be insane to compensate for their defense not being as good? Even then Zims defense still got a bit better as the season went on.

And yes ranking in the regular season means squat if you cant do it in the playoffs, unless all you care about are stats instead of championships, which is fine if youre Jerry i guess.

2021 in Quinn’s first season, Lawrence, Gregory, and Armstrong all missed time. Galimore was supposed to have a breakout season but hurt his elbow in preseason. They had games starting 3 rookies in Micah, Osa and Gholston and they won.
Imagine that multiple dline injuries and there wasn’t a complete collapse of the defense for half the season!

Tell me who can make something out of that, youre kidding yourself that season and this one are even comparable, and we still sucked in the run game in all years under Quinn even fully healthy (I like Quinn fwiw)

Lawrence broke his foot during practice going into week 2 and missed 9 games. Gregory had a back injury and missed 5 games starting in week 2. Armstrong was injured 1st quarter week 2 and missed the next 2 weeks.
They won every game!

This! And he had a horrible rep at Minny as a HC and burned a lot of bridges. I know he’s been here as DC but this is a lazy move
