Zimrod's defense = ZERO sacks

In Zimrod's first outing as Atlanta's DC they recorded ZERO sacks and ZERO hurries vs the Vikings.

Atlanta was 14th in the league last season with 37 sacks (we were 19th with 34).

By contrast, the Vikings had 6 sacks and 6 hurries against the Falcons but were 26th last year with 30 sacks.

We only recorded 1 sack against the Giants but had 6 hurries.

Just sayin zall...

Actually, they had a fairly balanced attack with 27 runs and 23 pass attempts. The Vikings averaged 5.1 yards per carry.

We only recorded 1 sack against the Giants but had 6 hurries.

Statistically, we'll get credited with only one sack. But we also had a sack on the Giants' two-point conversion attempt, which was a huge play (it kept the Giants from possibly tying the game after their next TD).

The point I was addressing was the assertion by many here that Zimrod was held back by Parcells (they have never yet answered my question as to why we didn't have a pass rush BEFORE Parcells arrived). The assumption was that once he was out from under BP's conservative hand he would have a blitz-happy, pass-rushing monster defense. Obviously that it hasn't happened yet... and likely it never will.

You are right.

It obviously hasn't happened yet in Zimmer's 1 Game career in Atl.

By the same token, we changed the scheme and still sucked defensively. Thus, with one game played, have proven the scheme vs players debate that has been raging on.

I think its hilarious, I cant stand the Falcons and now I can laugh even harder as I watch the Zimmer comedy on a week to week basis

the Falcons were terrible against Minny, imagine how much worse it would have been without Abraham, Brooking and Hall
