Spencer was predicted to be defensive rookie of the year by some, not to mention when asked by the top collegant OTs who was the best pass rusher, Spencer was almost unanimous. Add the fact that Ellis has only seen him in shorts and he already convinced his job is gone. Add all that up with the positive comments in the media and it is hard not to get excited. Personally I think we got a winner, and there are going to be a few more article cursing Philly for trading with us.
As far as who would be the best out of he and Ware who cares they both wear the star. If gets anywhere close to Ware's level, which I think is a vertual guarentee we are set for years to come, maybe best duo in the NFL territory.

I think our linebackers are going to be scary good this year. People are on the Ware-Spencer wagon but I think a lot of folks are forgetting Carpenter. He really came on at the end of last year and if he gets moved inside he will undoubtedly be an upgrade over Bradie James. Ware-Carpenter-Ayodele-Spencer...man, if the Spencer reports are true that is going to be some group!

That's also my choice for the starting linebacker corps. Even with Ayodele rehabbing his knee right now, he should be ready to go by TC. However, if there's a chance he's not fully ready, Kevin Burnett is a solid substitute for him (barring any more injuries :crossed: )

Yeah, that would be good. I hate to say it but as pitiful as James looked last year I'd prefer any of our other LBs over him. It's bad when the Detroit QB mentions you specifically as a suck player at the postgame victory press conference.

Speaking of linebackers, my son Tanin (that the Zone so kindly sent to TO camp last year) Is up to 5'9" and 190 pounds. His last official 40 time he ran at school was a 4.6 The kid is getting better!

I don't think the comparison factor is even worth discussing at this time. For the first time in a many of yrs Dallas has the chance, posibilty, of having a formidable duo to reek havoc in the backfield. I think they will compliment each other and also feed of each others success. I honestly see at least 25 sacks, 5 FF, and maybe 10-15 TFL between the two of them. I am really buying into the Spencer hype and Ware is a given for me.

And by the way, we can't imagine how much they will help the other members of the front seven by just being on the field and being that pass rushing threat. Even Fergi is talking sacks. How exciting is that.

I think I'd like to see Spencer play a down in the NFL before making any bold predictions/assumptions.

I read somewhere that Spencer is faster then anybody thought he would be.

I just hope that doesn't mean our OL is slowing than we thought.

Call me Crazy, but can Spencer become as good as OR even BETTER then WARE?

I remember Ware first training camp and we kept reading the same type of reports......blowing by folks, quick, fast to the QB etc. :starspin

Spencer is so strong in addition to all the other things......could it be Zoners?

Or, am I just Crazy?

"I can do anything better.. I can do anything better than you".... "no you cant... yes I can"

That would be a great "situation" to have CC...

Let's not forget that Ellis is the starting OLB, and will be until Spencer gets his feet on the ground. The good thing about this is Ware had to start playing from the get-go, while Spencer will have some time to learn his position. I think Spencer will be good, in fact will be very good, but Ellis is the man of the hour until that day arrives where Spencer is promoted ahead of him.

I think Spencer and Ware working opposite of each other should be able to put a lot of outside pressure on the QB, now we need someone to step up and provide the inside pressure up the gut.

I suppose you're technically correct but with Ellis' age and the injury he had I would put the odds at 50/50 that Spencer will replace him on opening day.

I am hoping, like probably every Cowboys fan, that Spencer turns out to be another Ware/Merriman. I am not drinking the Kool Aid just yet though, since he was a late first round selection. If he is anywhere close to as good as Ware, then we got a steal in the draft, plus Cleveland's first rounder next year.

Agreed 1000 percent... I always say this but people have gum in their ears it seems.....

Spencer has to work on using his awesome strength to his advantage instead of using his speed all the time.

Besides that, this guy hasn't even played a down on an NFL sunday yet; we don't even know how he will fare.

I think all this hype that he is getting however is only in the Dallas camp...

If (when?) this guy blows up people are not going to stop talking about how silly the Eagles were to let him go... If the Eagles kept him (which I was really nervous about) he would have been Defensive ROY IMHO; He is just as fast as Jevon Kearse and stronger. Combine his ability with that talented D-line and depth and there you go.

Exactly, if Furgey can put enough pressure up the middle to force the QB's to run to the outside......Ware and Spencer will be waiting on them!

This defense has a termendous amout of potential, however, we know what that can buy us? :star:

Fergy is not going to be the lead rusher through the line. He is a fireplug, always was, always will be. Spears/Canty will be the key to set up the linebackers.

True but what we need from the man in the middle is to push the pocket backwards so that the QB does not have the space to step up into.
