Blogging the Boys: Diggs or Bland Cowboys will have to choose

We can wait on Bland to see if he can make it back to what he was when he set the NFL record for Pick 6's in a season
no we can't do that, the Cowboys won't see past the injuries, he will be given a record setting contract based off what he did YEARS ago!!

Don't have to sign bland until next offseason plus they have the tag to use if they want. No rush
Yeah, we get ahead of ourselves sometimes. Let's let Diggs get healthy and then see how it goes. It's possible that both players' performance can fall off in Eberflus's zone-heavy scheme or maybe they will both shine. The sad thing is that we might have to sign a short-term vet because of Diggs' injury since there's the possibility he won't make it back in time for the start of the season. I think he and Overshown will both start the year on PUP.

Who does the new defensive scheme favor? Guessing Eberflus will be around a few years. I have to go with Bland on this one, less injuries, more tackling, and maybe a lesser contract.

I completely agree with where things stand right now that Bland is the guy you want to go with. With that said however....They've managed Diggs contract very well and although he is still expensive, he can be cut at pretty much any time for minimal penalty. Bland likely has very good trade value right now. With cap inflation he is likely going to cost you more than the $19M per year that Diggs signed for. I'm not saying that you do it, but I would at least explore options to trade Bland and gamble on Diggs getting healthy, and going for a tier 2/3 free agent. If you could get a high 2nd round pick is it worth it?

Yeah but you know how that goes 437, they get the money, and all of a sudden the things you saw that GOT them the contract somehow fade away!!!!

Facts, it seems Bland is more lowkey and could handle it better than Diggs has, but you right we never know.

@thunderpimp91 What do you think Bland's trade value is right now?

Bland is one of the most humble, down-to-earth, likable guys on the entire team. Absolutely awesome dude. I don't have any questions about him quitting his job after he wins the lottery.

And on the thread question, I've always been a Bland guy. I never would have re-signed Diggs in the first place.

Good question. I dont say it with a ton of confidence, but I would think you could get a 2nd for him, possibly a decent pick in that round too. I try to take emotion out of it and just go off of recent history. The closest comp I can find the last couple years is the L'jarious Sneed trade, and maybe Carlton Davis or Rasul Douglas deals. All of those got 3rd round picks plus another late pick. I would assume Bland still having a year left on his rookie deal would up his value a little bit from those guys though???

I'd probably take Bland over any of those guys, but he was hurt a good chunk of 2024 and wasnt the elite level guy he was in 2023.
