Blogging the Boys: Diggs or Bland Cowboys will have to choose

It's funny. According to the local beat writers, it was Diggs' injury that really hurt this team. He was cast as the emotional leader who gets in Dak's face, etc. But now, he seems to be portrayed as a lazy, business-decision maker who is not taking his rehab seriously. I'm not sure what to believe.

If it were my coin, I would build the entire defense up - because it's cheaper - and is not Dak-dependent (somewhat...a bad QB can put the D in bad spots). Would I make Bland part of that over Diggs? Yes...but I wouldn't break the bank for Bland either. I would pay him market value, which is still way too high IMO, but I would pay it. But if he wants to set the market....let him walk too. Use that to acquire the best DT and edge rushers and linebackers and continue to develop corners while Dak leads us to mediocrity.

We can wait on Bland to see if he can make it back to what he was when he set the NFL record for Pick 6's in a season
Ya, Im waiting on him. He got abused when he came back from injury. Was it the injury, or was he a product of Quinns system

Option 3 please - neither.

The INT seasons they've both delivered are great highlights but doesn't gloss over their flaws. Solid CBs absolutely (when fit) but not stars at the position when taking in to account their whole game.

Gimme the DL all day long when spending $$$

Bland

Diggs physical health is in question. He will probably never be the same player. Can't pay him top corner money.

He may not play in 2025. I think Dallas should make him a June 1st cut in 2026.
I feel bad for Diggs and his health decline. He’s played a total of 13 games the last two seasons while making top of the market pay. None of that is his fault. But a great NFL front office cannot play favorites or keep someone because they are one of your favorite players if keeping them hurts the team.

If we want to save some cap space to get better, Diggs’ contract does have an out this year for a June 1 release. It would include $12 million in dead money but you would save quite a bit of cap space in future years. Here’s a link to the details of his contract on Spotrac: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/47646/trevon-diggs

On top of all of the above, as the OP states we would have to decide in a year or two if we want a commitment to Diggs or to Bland. Right now, Bland is clearly the healthier, better option.

Diggs is a Primadona and soft. I would have cut him already. Too much of a head case as well. Cancer-like player.

Diggs has a more concerning injury.....and most importantly......this sport is physical with attrition. Also, there's no defending Diggs propensity for "business decisions".

Bland. Hands down. He’s younger and better physically now which matters a ton. Diggs having two knee surgeries in two years makes him a risk not worth what he’s being paid.

Nothing against Travon but you can’t hang on to a player for sentimental reasons if you want to compete for a championship.

Trade anyone with value. By the time this thing gets rebuilt, their career will be mostly gone. Clean the slate and be about that business.

Oh wait, we don't have a functioning GM motivated to build a championship roster. Nevermind, sign everyone to record contracts!!

Cooglymoogly is everyone's fav!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There's about 1 person who hates my guts but likes to send sweet nothings to my inbox!!!!! It's all good, but if you're going to do that, don't have people thinking you hate me, then it's something else behind closed doors
