I don't understand why the Cowboys fear 'cap hell'

Nothing is stopping the Cowboys from coming to terms with Lance. He is not a “UFA” for a few more weeks. Either the Cowboys aren’t sure if they want him or he’s not sure he wants the Cowboys.
Grier is on a 1 yr deal at league minimum.

the fear is Dead Money

teams that make more FA moves have less Dead Money Fear.

my team even fears it so much, they won't make a coaching move until the contract is up.

Otherwise, Kellen Moore would have been HC in '24 (and now) and the Eagles would likely have not won a SB without him.

lol. What a steaming pile of …. Their philosophy sucks. I’m so grateful that they’ve done **** now for 30 years…
98 wins over a 10 year stretch
5 division titles
6 playoff appearances
18 pro bowl participants drafted
9 players drafted who were selected 1st or 2nd team all pro
3 rookie of the years(zeke included here)
and drafted 2 ol who are allegedly hoF bound
unfortunately, Jane, they do not. they've been led into believing falsehoods from people in your profession

Yep....they may have won the SB...but the last laugh will be on them when they wind up being 9th or 10th on the dead money list.

HAHAHAHA at them!!!
Some people can only view things as binary ie as good or bad and struggle with nuance and different points of view.

I never said that backloading costs to maximize a roster for a short time frame was not useful. Just that it is not all good.

I would ask you to try again but I don't see you as capable of seeing what I am saying.

lol. We won’t. We are only the Giants away from being bottom of the NFC East in 25.
Bengals finished this season at 9-8 and every pundit will speak glowingly of their prospects for 2025

Cowboys were a special teams mishap and a Marcus Mariotta staying on the bench from finishing this season at 9-8. Mot to even mention a Houston game that we let get a way. And the pundits(and the teams fans) will treat the Cowboys as if they should not be on a NFL field

Why are we scared of the Dead's(Washington). A team Dallas beat at their place and the Cowboys made their hotshot QB look pathetic in 5 of the 6 quarters that they faced him. The Dead's do not have a great defense. The Dead's leading receiver was 29. Their TE was 34 last year. I don't believe the coach will have long term success there. This is a team that greatly overachieved in 2024. They won't 'sneak' up on anyone in 2025. They are a 8 or 9 win at best team.

Philly loses its OC. Philly has moody wide receivers. The running back will not duplicate last seasons success. Look at the history of the 25 years or so. RB who carry a big load one season, struggle the next season. Barkley is not old but not young either plus he has a history of being injury prone. I see a dramatic decline for him. Their season will come down to if the QB can regain what he had in the 2022 season.

Cowboys season comes down to if last yea'r's draft class produces on field results in 2025. Cowboys signing a DL who produces. Adding an impact player in this draft. Sam Williams. If the coach can coach. If everything comes together, the Cowboys can be right there

But they aren't maximized for a short time.

They have one of the youngest teams in the league, THE youngest starting defense in the league, and the majority of their team is under contract for YEARS to come.

This is not The Rams deal with the Devil...where for 1 SB they intentionally screwed themselves for several seasons (which is still far better than screwing yourself for 3D years with zero SBs)...

I know it's tempting to make yourself feel better by assuming they'll have to "pay the piper" later on for their championship.... but it's just not true.

I like how your tone is that of a non Cowboys fan. THE intent you display is that the team have success for YEARS to come. Feigned certainty of future events is a big tell. We know what you want.

Again, nuance is a struggle for you. I never said it was going to lead to their downfall or that it would come out like the Rams. Even in that case, it was not one deal like Barkley's but half a dozen. I haven't looked to closely as to the moves the Eagles had made to see if they were similarly frontloaded. IF they are then they will have even more dead money pre-allocated with the possibility of adding on more later to that much more of a degree.

What could possibly go wrong?

They "fear" cap hell until they make a bad signing (like with Zek and Prescott) and then laugh at fans that the cap can be manipulated. Stephen Jones hasn't been consistent on this.

It's become pretty clear to me that Jerry and Stephen really want to show the world they are the best drafters and the guys they hand pick will lead them to a championship.

Yep they'll definitely have to pat the piper.

I mean...maybe they'll get one or two more...but THEN,...they'll have a couple of down years, and then WE'LL be having the last laugh!!

They literally have to have the best scouting/drafting team in league history to make their plan work.

They don’t even attempt to acquire more picks. They get the same usual picks that the rest of the league does…less the fourth rounders Jerry squanders.

It’ll never work, but again, don’t go telling billionaire narcissists that they are wrong. They will get what’s coming. It’s about to be exposed.

Packers were doing this in the early 2010s. I remember most of their team was just made up of guys they drafted, a friend of mine that is a Packers fan said they were basically a cult up there at that point.

Cost them a couple trophies with the philosophy.

We were also 3-4 plays away from 3-14. Goes both ways.
