I don't understand why the Cowboys fear 'cap hell'

Again. Dak's salary is not stopping from building. This stupid argument continues. IT IS JERRY!
Salary cap.

We don’t have enough free cap.

2.5M free counting the top51

We get the cap increase this season.

That 15-20M pays for Turpin, Lance, and Hoffman.

Everyone else will be league minimum.

They will free up some by using extensions for CD and Micah.

Need 10-15M for our draft.

Then another 20M for the season in case we need to sign replacements.

Dak keeps his 89M

Nope. We don't sign Lance. Dak also restructure to free up even more space. It will be all on a Jerry. Like it always is. He signs the checks.

Yep, and there's an argument, as Jerry didnt do it last year, we need to suck, take the hit in 2025 and start again in 2026. Id go a stage further and trade this years 12th Pick for a 1st Rd next year (and shrapnel)....it's a weak top of the draft and having two First Rounds next year allows us to draft a future QB.
What??? This is a strong 1st round draft. It would silly to bank on the 2026 draft. You can never trust Jerry to rebuild from scratch.

They don't fear "cap hell". They simply don't want to write checks. $$$ is king, not winning. They want to keep as much if their billion $ in revenue as is possible. As long as they are a fringe playoff team, they want to try to claim to be "in the mix" as a contender. For the first time, there's been a concerted effort among some of the press and former players to push back against their poor management, bolstered by the Eagles & Commanders success. They've rarely been called to the carpet as they have this offseason, which leads to the ridiculous "cap hell" narrative, which is the only card Stephen really has to play.

You should be happy they have a philosophy. At least they are not chasing what ever fad is in the league. Continue to draft well Stephen(though the last two have not been immediate home runs ). One day you will find that right combination! You've done a good job for over a decade now. As the great Samuel Sosa used to say--keep it continuing
lol. What a steaming pile of …. Their philosophy sucks. I’m so grateful that they’ve done **** now for 30 years…

The team has signed Grier for 2025. Why haven’t they signed Lance?

This isn't the English Premier League. There isn't a risk of demotion. If anything, being really bad for a couple of years rewards you with picking high which lets you fill your roster with high end talent (look how quickly guys like Hutchinson, Daniels, Burrows, etc have turned franchises around). I'd rather go actually go 'all-in' for a 3-4 year window by supplanting your good draft with effective FA pickups and see if you can win. Its worked for the Eagles, Rams and Bucs recently although obviously not guaranteed. Worst case you have to be poor for 1-2 years but with our scouting department, we should be able to recover faster than other teams. I'd much rather that than solely rely on our draft and D-list FA's which leads us to multiple 8-9 to 11-6 type years where we're never bad enough to get high picks (short of a QB injury) nor good enough to actually compete for a SB.

Dallas hasn't won in 30 years but is still a draw. Trying to win in a certain window and then rebuilding isn't going to lose you fans. It'll just give us hope in those years you do go for it.
they don't fear it. they just want you to think its so bad, that they can't spend money.... when Stephen says, well philly has to deal with it in a few years, it tells you all you need to know. in the meantime Philly has won 2 of 3 superbowls its been to

Sure. Who takes over for Dak when he ages out?

Accept that the kid is in line for QB2.

Congrats to Philly.

Remember the season crash they had last season?

Wait till all that void money is due soon….

Nothing is free.

That seems a pretty limited take.

Lance cost that pretty much the whole way and we extended double figures of cap space to this year so there wasn't an opportunity cost from a cap availability standpoint .

In comparison, the Eagles gave Barkley 4 voided years in his 7 year deal. $10m, most of his SB, won't be accounted until he is a free agent after two more years.

They guaranteed themselves dead money three years ahead of time. It's not all roses.
Yep....they may have won the SB...but the last laugh will be on them when they wind up being 9th or 10th on the dead money list.

HAHAHAHA at them!!!
