I would like Dak to prove why he got $60 million dollars!

Please give your thoughts
My thoughts are we have Dak for at least 2 more seasons. The Salary Cap went up which lessens the 60 million APY (I’m still not happy with the contract but it is what it is). So we know what helps Dak succeed. Strong offensive line and strong running game. Let’s sell out and give Dak what we know works for him for the next 2 years. Dak is going to leave/retire eventually so we have a 2-3 year window before we gut the roster and start over with a different QB. I think it’s time for Jerry and Stephen to put up or shut up. If Jerry and Stephen believe he is a 60 million dollar player then show us that by going all out yo put the best team on the field.

As far as Dak showing us he deserves 60 million, I believe if he puts up 2023 numbers and is more successful in the playoffs will do it. Even the staunchest Dak critic will bend if we get some playoff success. But that goes back to Jerry and Stephen doing their job, which I’m not banking on.

Team sport. Dak is not carrying this team assembled by this GM. Neither is Micah on defense.

You will find out pretty quickly, if GM Jethro is serious about winning or not, during Free Agency.
But that doesnt detract from the OP, of Dak needing to show something. It's not an either/or (JERRY - DAK), it's both. In a way both are going to lose out, Jerry having to pay 2025 (and possibly 2026 as he dumbs down on the stubborn contract and isnt brave enough to post-June1st him), Dak loses out on $80m-$120m salary, when he's cut (if he's nothing greater than 2nd MVP in 2025). He's no-longer a: market setter, he's, as he always has been, closer to a Cousins comparison (the ending may well be the same).

The Salary Cap increase isnt a surprise and isnt a magic.....it was expected (for anyone using OTC or Sportrac).

So as we stand now, how do we elevate to the 2023 roster? The idea Jerry 'puts up, or shut's up' is madness. We arent close to even getting to the play-offs, let alone actually winning a game.....the 12-5 teams struggled mightily, the 2026 version, even if we spent $100m wouldnt be enough, and would just kick the problem into 2026.

Dak is not the player to go ALL-IN on. His day has gone.

Nope. It will take something along the line of 7 straight NFCCG's and 5 super bowls. Sounds familiar, right? Yet Dak makes more money than the guy who has actually done just that in the AFC.

Dak doesn't have 7 more seasons under his belt, so scratch this.

The Cowboys chose to pay him that money.

When it comes to the contract...Isn't the story more about the front office decision? Little to do with Dak?

I celebrate the few players who willingly leave money on the table for the sake of the team...but that's 1-2 percent of players.

Jerry gets the criticism for the contract, Dak gets the criticism for grand larceny, getting money by false pretense. Yes Jerry should of seen it coming.....there were plenty of us saying 'dont do it, make him pay for it'....but Dak cant not take some/a lot of the responsibility for that below average NFL QB performance (even before an injury that'll further reduce his effectiveness). He'll be a standing target in the pocket.

The only way to justify an elite QB contract is to win a Superbowl. Noway that happens here. Remember Goff made it to a SB got criticized, even when he took a team friendly deal.

If Dak can get back to his level of play like his playoff game against Tampa he'll earn his money. However, Cowboys need to get more from the running game and pass blocking.
So we are now putting all are hope in sub .500 teams reaching the playoffs for Dak to face? It's not even like you could point to a team that should have actually been in the playoffs as to what he should achieve?

How is he any worse than the guys making 55 million and is there a big difference between 55 and 60 million?

You guys get caught up in that 60 million way too much.
$20m is too much for him.
He's far into the downhill slide, and the top of his hill was never even as high as people had predicted anyway

When he's playing at a high level we're winning games, we may have issues with him, but he's what we have going forward. We have to get in our minds that he's going to be here for a few years at best. So let's see if this new staff can get whatever is left out of him to show us he was worthy of such an enormous contract!! Show up or shut up!! Please give your thoughts

Show us all that this is yours, and you're ready to take us to the promise land
IMHO, there is nothing Dak can do to justify $60 million per year. He could win the MVP and still not justify that kind of contract. But we all know he is not winning any MVP awards.

"I would like Dak to prove why he got $60 million dollars!"

So you want him to point to a picture of Jerry?

When he agreed to the deal he knew the expectations that come with that kind of compensation and knew the team he was signing with. Jackson, Lawrence, Herbert, Love, Allen, Watson, Hurts, Burrow…they all know they are the key player on their respective teams. They all know the scrutiny that accompanies getting paid over $50 million per season. None of them get to say my left tackle is not good enough or I need better receivers, run game, offensive coordinator or anything else. They understood what the team they were signing with had and did not have. They signed the contract, banked millions of dollars, and now it’s time to perform.

No one faults Dak Prescott for the contract he and Jerry Jones agreed to. The fact that other NFL quarterbacks are overpaid does not lessen Cowboys fans’ angst. Too bad for the Jags and Browns. They’re some other fanbases’ concern. It is fair to expect Dak to perform unusually well under his team’s circumstance because he is paid unusually well. Dak needs to get healthy and get to work. He’s still cashing game checks. The team’s success very much depends on him. And $hould.
You're right....expectations are high....they were high, when he was paid as a 4th rounder and high now that he's the highest paid. Unlike some of the others, at least he was a bargain his first 4 years and allowed us to spend money elsewhere....unfortunately, JJ didn't take advantage of that.

With his contract, at his position, on this team, he is the most polarized player in the league. Everyone, including him, knows he's not earning the $60M he's getting paid. Every game puts a bullseye on his back...........
