I would like Dak to prove why he got $60 million dollars!

100% but when the owner/GM's ego is on the line for every player well thats when you get "We like our guys"....
.....if I were Dak's agent, I would have demanded an additional $5M for simply hoisting all the vitriol and sole responsibility of this team's failures. The School for the Blind knows the team building is flawed.

Cut him! I think everyone knows I’m not a Dak fan. I was pretty upset when we resigned him. I feel we’re stuck with him. At least for a few years. So during those years I think it’s on Jerry and Stephen to give him a better supporting cast to make the games worth watching. What I’m scared of is Jerry and Stephen just throw money at average players and call that roster building. So Jerry and Stephen thought their job was done by extending Dak. It wasn’t.

As far as Dak goes, unless he single handedly won the Super Bowl then I don’t think he ever lives up to being the highest paid player in nfl history. JMO
"Single handedly" may be the reason he got paid. How can you expect one to do that, but not be compensated for it? Now while that's unrealistic and makes no sense at all, so is the expectation for just one player. We just saw Mahomes look uncharacteristically bad because his OL got overmatched and beat like a drum.

He is not going to magically get better entering year ten!
I think he won’t make it through the season. He’s injury prone and thinking that in particular a torn hamstring is going to make him more mobile to me is dreaming

JJ pulled the trigger too quickly on his extension at the price he paid.

If Dak can get back to his level of play like his playoff game against Tampa he'll earn his money. However, Cowboys need to get more from the running game and pass blocking.
That’s the problem, unfortunately key interceptions in tight games are his downfall.

Some due to receivers but others just bad decisions on his part.

Watch Mahomes. Once he sees his Houdini routine won’t work he throws the ball away.

The eagles never gave him that chance.

Isnt the stare a part of his mental make-up that he cant perform under extreme pressure. There's very little that can be done to overcome those issues......O-Lines, Receivers, Running game, Run Defense (to give him time), Secondary for field position......spend on getting all of that and still he comes up short WITH THE BALL IN HIS HANDS.

It's like saying, if we had a PERFECT team, Dak would be a SB QB. The closest we've come is 2023, that wasnt good enough and even if Jerry was able/willing to get a team of that caliber (very unlikely in 3 years, from where we are)......Dak is still there and ISNT the same QB (on many fronts, inc health) as he was then.
Are you agreeing with me or disagreeing? The TLDR version of my point is in big games Dak gets mentally frozen. For a Dak critic like myself to change my view of him he would have to overcome the mental issues he has in the playoffs. He has to own the moment and not let the moment own him. You can see it in his eyes when he starts shutting down mentally. My view of Dak as a player would change if he overcame his mental block of the playoffs and playing against playoff teams.

But another point I want to make is the Cowboys have a destructive cycle going here. We have a QB that is a poor playoff performer. We have a front office that can’t build a roster to win playoff games. 45% of the fan base only blame Dak and his mental issues, 45% of the fans only blame the FO, 10% of the fans are in homer heaven and everything is great. My point is that Dak is not a playoff winning caliber QB. Independent of that the FO has proven to be incapable of building a playoff winning team. 2 independent problems are contributing to a destructive cycle.

Totally agree, even to the point that Dak would be great if it weren't for the mental block/lack of composure whenever he's chasing a game.

Yes Jerry is just inept/interested in: beat up the poor in regular season and then hope. My contributions to Dak debates comes from a position opposing those that deflect EVERYTHING away from Dak's inabilities /contributions to the failures......and then resort to the 2nd-MVP argument.

As you say, it's not one, its both that are holding us back.

When he's playing at a high level we're winning games, we may have issues with him, but he's what we have going forward. We have to get in our minds that he's going to be here for a few years at best. So let's see if this new staff can get whatever is left out of him to show us he was worthy of such an enormous contract!! Show up or shut up!! Please give your thoughts

Show us all that this is yours, and you're ready to take us to the promise land
Yaaaaawn.

and then resort to the 2nd-MVP argument.
Don’t get me started on that one. The “2nd place MVP argument “ is one of two arguments that have made me a staunch Dak critic. The other argument is Dak is better than Aikman. The 2nd place MVP thing is weak because he got 1 whole vote, so yes technically he was the runner up but realistically the race wasn’t close. Comparing Dak to Aikman and saying Dak is on par or better than Aikman is blasphemous.

Those 2 arguments really put the nail in the coffin for me as to how I feel about Dak in the field. I feel the media, Mike Fisher, some fans want to sell Dak as a generational player and the more blame shifting away from Dak and the unrealistic propping him up caused other fans (like me) to go the opposite direction. It’s almost like a repellent for his play on the field.

Checking this year's opponents, I would say, the promised land is going to = 4 to 5 wins.
Best case.
It's more important that we find a capable backup.

Yeah I got a feeling’25 is going to be way more disappointing than ‘24. I feel some commonalities between ‘25 and 2000. In 2000 we had an aging QB who was on the backend of his career and injury prone, new coach no one else in the league would even look at, one good WR, average offensive line and defensive line, average secondary. In ‘25 we have all those things. Schotty reminds me of Campo and with the schedule we have it is going to get brutal. Hopefully I’m wrong but my expectations are pretty low for 25.
