What about letting Steele and Guyton battle it out for the starting RT spot?

What about letting these two battle it out, hoping these new coaches can get something out of the both of these players. Who wins the spot, hoping they don't just give it to Steele because he's owed more money! Please give your thoughts

If he is on the roster after 3/16 Steele's money becomes guaranteed. If that happens I'm 99% sure he will be handed the starting gig. Honestly if there is going to be more of a focus on the run game Steele isnt a horrible option. Would I like to see the position upgraded? Yes. Was Steele nearly as bad as people want to make him out to be? No. I think Steele is closer to league average than people think. Guyton was significantly worse in 2024, and I think the real battle should be between him and Richards for the LT spot if they keep Smith at G.

So who plays LT or LG if Smith goes back to LT?
What happens to the player that does not start?

I know what you are saying. Not a bad idea. But it would be best to make Steele a June 1st cut. Safe cap space.
Let Guyton play RG, and draft an other LT or LG.

However, what happens if Martin does not return. Now they need a RG as well. Unless you really think Hoffman is the answer.
That is a lot of players moving around as well as needing new players.

I see them sticking to what they have, and see if the new scheme and coaches will improve it.

Guyton was drafted to be LT.

Steele likely won't be a Cowboy at some point. Depends on what the Cowboys do with his contract.

So there won't be any battle for RT between them.

Great topic. I agree. Guyton in my view isn't good at LT. But at RT he might be great. He played RT at a high level in college. Why not just let him compete for the RT position? We do need an upgrade over Steele. We can easily move Smith out to LT then Beebe to LG. Let Hoffman start at center. If Martin retires let's see if Thomas,Bass, or Richards can win the RG spot. Worse case scenario is either Richards or Steele end up at swing.

Cap space that we can't use until after June sheesh

I would love to see that and draft a true LT this year...

Sure and let's play with no LT.
