What's the main thing coach Schottenhiemer needs to work on with this team?

Coog, You can't leave Jerry/Stephen out... It's because of them that we don't have depth that's worth a damn. They will pay money to who will sell jerseys and dumpster dive to fill the gaps. What did they do to help better the roster during the offseason last year? Not a damn thing. Look at the line on both offense and defense. Everyone says the offensive and defensive lines is who controlled the Superbowl. Who do we have? Coaches can only do so much with the players at hand. It's because of them that the players are soft in that if the HC says something to hurt the players' feelings, they can go run to Daddy Jerry and Jerry will protect them. The Eagles showed what happens when the owner actually listens and does what it takes to better the team. He let the coaches do what they do and look at the results. The Eagles stomped Mahomes..... Sure they let off the gas a little which made The Chiefs score some point but what would have happened had the Eagles not let off the gas? I don't think The Chiefs would have ever scored.

I'm not giving McCarthy a pass. To be totally honest, I was fanboy excited when we hired him because of his success with Green Bay. But McCarthy gave up.
No, he didn't give up, he never had a chance due to Jerry's interloping. You think McC wanted Moore as the OC? Really?

Very simple get Jerry to totally commit to wanting to win a Super bowl at all cost.

He has all the resources he's fully capable of acquiring the talent to get the job done.

He just needs to be motivated to do it. Without Jerry's 100% commitment it doesn't matter what Brian schottenheimer does he is going to fail
And unfortunately, the first commitment needs to be to a void year.

Making winning football games the priority. Every players and coaches primary focus should be winning football games. And making sure the ******* owner and his son have minimal direct access to the players and coaches for all things football. The culture is crap and nothing will change until the culture changes

Definitely the running game both offense and defense. If he can concentrate on the running ggme then a lot of other issues will be solved as well.

When the team that has scored the fewest running TD's is the same team that allows the most running TD's then that team has a problem with the running game.

An improved running attack balances the offense and allows less dependency on Dak and the passing game. Dak will be far more productive if the Cowboys can pick their opportunities rather than be forced by circumstances.

An improved running game keeps the offense on the field longer and rests the defense more frequently.

Conversely, a successful run defense reduces the number of 2nd or 3rd and shorts and forces teams to march down the field while successfully avoiding mistakes. Creating 3rd and long instead of 2nd and short means more blitzes and more takeaway opportunities.

The two areas he should consider is adding an elite RB and a dominating DT. The chances of getting both in the same year is very rare but they need to do what they can with the draft and veteran free agency. I would like them to do both in ordr to get multiple options for both positions.

I don't know if it's the first or day one but they definitely need to spend more practice time working on reading and passing against zone coverages both the receivers and QB. I watched one game with Tom Brady calling the game and he called out Lamb for running the route from zone to zone instead of finding the open area and sitting.

Day 1 of meetings/practice, what does our head coach need to tell our players and what does he need to work on to get this team on the right path. Leaving our Jerry Jones and management, let's focus on the coach and what he needs to work on, so this team is on a successful path to a great 2025 season??? Please give your thoughts.
To not be so transparent in your intentions.

Trying to establish a brand, making money, laying foundations for later business is THE way you do it in Dallas. Nobody really expects you to be a good player or care about the sport you are here for.

But try to be more intransparent about your real intentions!

I think he should - in a first step - have a meeting with the most influential cancers of this team (DFlaw, Parsons, Diggs, Bum QB for instance) and work out a plan.

After that lick JJs butthole to get approval (whos going first doesnt matter, JJs butt knows them all).

Then start the PROCESS of implementation!

PS: Dont forget to let Mickey Spacknogla have it advertised on his show.

Heck i cant wait for the new season to start!

Ignore the owner...

Bye Jerry

be able to run the ball & stop the run

He doesn't need to tell the players anything. He DOES need to tell the Jones' that if they do indeed want to compete for championships that they need to open up the checkbook and invest $$$ and draft picks in the Offensive and Defensive lines. Acquire some talented big people. Period.

"Last year you sucked - dirty balls! This year you don't have to suck, and you can get the other team's balls out of your mouths."

It's all about what we all want together. Anyone not wanting on this train can get off now. There is a train station outside of this room where you can spend more of your time sucking other people's balls.

The message is clear. Last year bad. This year commit to paying the price to be best. You can leave now if this doesn't suit you.

Obviously no one will leave (at least I hope not), but give the team a simple and clear message. 1 minute or less. This is the tone for the season. Everything else builds from there. You repeat the simple one minute message throughout the season to re-centre the team on the one driving premise. You don't have to suck if you don't want to.

This messaging also puts you as a coach and an organization out of having to take on the burden and excuses of things like injury and we didn't get the players we wanted last offseason. Those are things out of their control. We re-centre on things within our control. NOT SUCKING.

Just for fun, Schotty can play the short little video of Dak sidling up to Trey Lance and saying, "This teams sucks." Then he can walk out of the room, and let the players discuss and play out the crap from last year.

The Schotty train is leaving this year and last year's crap is being left behind.
“The Schotty train” has made 15 stops in 29 years. 15 different coaching positions in 29 years, joined NFL teams nine times, the Cardinals twice. Except with the Cowboys players who can’t to math I don’t believe the speech you suggest would be effective. The first person that has to prove himself is Brian Schottenheimer. Once he does that, if he ever does that, he can talk about balls and sucking. Keep in mind, he was a part of last season’s failures.

Very simple - DISCIPLINE!

1. Stay in your position and make the block or tackle.
2. Use your head - no penalties.
3. No hero-ball! Block the lane, contain the edge and make the tackle. Quit worrying about stacking up sacks!

Yes - Billicheck had it right - JUST DO YOUR JOB! What I've spelled out above does not take a top-10% or even top-20% player to execute. Just get your head out of your arse and play sound, fundamental football. If the team plays sound fundamental football, then you will be in every game.

Schottenheimer needs to explain to the team ( minus Dak) how they will be sacrificing the upcoming season to draft Manning who will bring 12 years of great QB play. All kidding aside the Cowboys must focus on running the ball to carry Dak. They also need to build the trenches first.
