No, they chose Chris Jones. Interior pass rusher is much more important to super bowls than WR.
I meant that they kept one high pay receiver (Kelce) and that they decided they could succeed without Hill (they were correct). They were keeping Chris Jones before paying Hill. However, they still felt they required at least one high end and high pay receiver (Kelce) to make the passing game viable-which is why he stayed on even though he was getting older.
They could have likely paid them all with lots of void years and restructured existing contracts. They did not want to pursue that route because they wanted more flexibility going forward. I agree that the interior pass rush is extremely important to a SB contender-though I would argue that overall the defensive line unit is what is so important defensively (pass rush, short passing game, batted passes, and run stopping).
