Witten, Dez and Sean Lee eligible for HOF next year

Gates made it this year.
Gronk's last year was 2021. That means 2026 is his first chance, right?
I think you meant Gronk after Gates, not Kelce.

Kelce had a huge drop off in ypt this year, 6.2 is really just bad, and his previous year was his previous worst year. Kelce could linger on and put another weak season or two on books as long as they're serious contenders. But the end is approaching and the HOF voters can see it coming.

With only around 5 going into the HOF a year, I just don't see them giving so many to TEs in such a short period. Gates just went in. Gronk is next. And then Kelce will be on the horizon. Witten would have a better chance if Kelce weren't on the horizon.

And I think they just *do* weigh rings a lot. Without the rings, no one would even be talking about Eli.

Dumb Face - ha ha. Eli Face is my term for Dumb Face
yeah you are right I was mixed up. as regards Gronk, he retired just before the 2022 season so yeah he is eligible next year and he will get in
So witten will get in 2027 because Kelce if he retires this year is not eligible until 2029

Neither Witten, Dez, or Lee belong in the Hall. Membership should be predicated on defining an era, or being instrumental in leading their respective teams to greatness. They're not qualified in my opinion.

HOF has become a joke. I don't watch the ceremonies at all, unless a Dallas player, I will watch his speech on you tube or posted here.
I did not pay any attention to who was announced this year that is going in.

I will watch the 1st quarter of the HOF game and that is about it. Because it is the start of the pre-season.

Disagree about Witt. Hes HoF. Many reasons.

Dez was an elite WR. Impressive stats. has PBs and AP.

but shorter career due to leg injuries. Not everyone gets to have a long career.

Agree.

our founding owner doesn’t even get a mention.

You have 5 TEs getting in from 2019 to 2029.
Players aren't just competing with other players, positions are competing with other positions to get in.

Dez?

AND SEAN LEE??? LOL

So the HOF went from HALL OF FAME...to HALL OF VERY GOOD BUT VERY GOOD FOR A LONG TIME... to just HALL OF VERY GOOD, and now to HALL OF "THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN REALLY GOOD IF THEY WEREN'T INJURED ALL THE TIME"

wow. I Guess they're going for quantity over quality. Is Tyler Giyton and Fat Boy Mazi already got a gold jacket?

I seriously have a problem with the inflation of the HOF.

Deion once said, and i think he is right: The HOF should be for players that changed the game (because they were so good).

I dont see that in most players going into the HOF in last years.

Looking realistically at Witten, Dez and Lee sorry i dont see one of them deserving to be in the HOF.

Witten was a good TE with a long career. That counts for him. He may have been the top TE in the league during one year of his career. But not more. Did he change the game ? No. How does he compare to real greats like Gonzales? Sorry but he aint no competition.

Dez had 3-4 good years. He dominated with his strength. Never was a great WR tecnique wise or from understanding the game. He had maybe 2 years where you could argue he was one of the top 3 or 4 WRs. Sorry but he should not even be considered for the HOF.

The same as for Dez goes for Lee. He for sure had much more understanding of the game and was a good student of the game. But he always "could have been a great one" if he could have only stayed on the field for a longer duration. Could have been is not enough to me to be considered for the HOF. Good LB with a lot of upside. Great instincts and great understandibg of the game - no question. But what he was able to show on the field to me just doesnt make it.

I dont even wanna start with the other names on the actual list. Alex Smith ? Come on. GT/O.
Chain moving and having the 2nd most receptions career for a TE is changing the game.

Right now this is just a list of some players who are now eligible. We will see which ones actually get serious consideration.
But yeah, guys like Alex Smith and David DeCastro shouldnt even be in the discussion.

Brees and Fitz are locked locks that lock

Rivers, I see him on the same level as Romo to be honest. Very good, but not at that HOF level. Threw a lot of picks

Witten has a chance at 1st ballot too.

Gore had the longevity, but even then he's 20th in rushing TDS.
Only 1 All-pro season, #2 team.
Did make the All Decade team in 1910, I mean 2010, and handful of probowls.

Think he will get in at some point due to the bulk rushing stats.
Nice breakdown. I think spit on

Sean Lee also has no shot at the HOF. His career was plagued by too many injuries.
He had HOF talent but not the body. 4-5 more healthy years he would have been a lock but body just broke down. I remember early in his career over a few years he had more ints than anyone. Just couldn’t stay healthy

I think Witten gets in.
Dez probably not cuz of all these modern wide receiver stats just blowing up nowadays. Not sure his 3 to 4 yrs of dominance will be enough for voters.
Lee definitely won't because of durability/injury issues that plagued him constantly. When healthy, he was borderline All Pro, but he couldn't ever stay healthy.

Larry Fitzgerald
Drew Brees
Philip Rivers
Jason Witten
Frank Gore
Julian Edelman
Maurkice Pouncey
LeSean McCoy

Alex Smith
Dez Bryant

David DeCastro
Mike Pouncey
Sean Lee
Todd Gurley

Players with Super Bowl pedigrees need only to apply!!!!!!!!!!!

Witten will get in easily

Lee was on track but derailed by injuries

Bryant not enough time in the league as a top WR
