Witten, Dez and Sean Lee eligible for HOF next year

Witten first ballot no question

Dez was never the same after his injury and unfortunately was up against HOF WRs to really stand out

Lee had HOF talent and play but not the longevity
The leg injuries (broken leg/achilles) killed his speed.

but his stats are impressive. 75 TDs. 7500+ yds

3PB and 1 AP.

he took too many hits. His playing style was aggressive.

I’m glad to own his jersey. X

Witten, Brees, and Fitzgerald have a chance.
I see no one else on that list making it.

Anyone thinking that Brees and Fitz are not locks have not seen the way the current voters work. Witten should be but then he is a Cowboy.

Sean Lee is not a HOF football player.

Dez is borderline. The dude was dominant but his career ended early.

Witten is a no brainer. He’s a top 5 TE all time.

Witten gets the HOF call in his 2nd or 3rd year of eligibility. There's no doubt he will eventually get in. The other 2 have no chance.

Witten doesn't make it this year. Not next year either.

Antonio Gates didn't make it his first year of eligibility. He's making it this year.

Next year it's Gronk. He will be first ballot.

A problem for Witten is the lack of rings *and* AP1 years.

Maybe a bigger problem is Witten is in a crowded field, and they're just not going to do that many in a short period. Gonzalez in 2019, Gates in 2025, Gronk in 2026.

Witten needs to get in before Kelce retires, or they're going to look forward to Kelce being first ballot, and be hesitant to put in 5 TEs in about a decade. Prior to Gonzalez, there were only 7 TEs in the HOF. I'm sure they can see the logjam coming as well as I can.

Although Kelce is on a great team and isn't that old, I could see him quitting after this season. His ypt this year was down to an embarrassing 6.2 yards. It's about a 2 yard drop off from last year, which was his worst year at 8.1 of his career.

I used to think "of course Witten gets in 1st ballot", but things have changed. Gronk retiring young and Kelce passing up Witten in qualifications is just brutal for his chances to get in before the 30s.

I think some of Dez's health problems came from doing jump balls.
He'd go very high and often land badly. I remember him coming down on hip once and seeing that it hurt him.

I think it depends on the age of the voters. The younger ones probably go the way you think. the older ones remember Witten being there year in and year out. ALso depends on if the voter is one of those that thinks rings are more important then what the player did in the bulk of his career.

Witten used to be top 5, then got passed up by Gronk and Kelce. Rings and AP1 seasons.

Gonzalez, Gates, Gronk, Kelce, and Witten all within about a decade. 5 in a decade? I don't think it's gonna happen. There were only 7 TEs in the HOF before Gonzalez.

The guy that gets bumped out of that 5 would be Witten.

Personally I'm biased toward AP1 seasons.
Gronk and Kelce have twice what Witten has, *and* the rings.

They're higher priority, and both are 1st ballot.

5 in a decade, after only 7 prior in the entire history of the NFL?
I just don't think so.
