If his arrival would probably keep us from acquiring a WR in the draft, I have my doubts.

If, on the other hand, we choose to consider him like a prospective draftee, count me in.

In the past, when he played for the Cowboys, he was generally said to run three routes.

In addition, if it's true that he's lost ten pounds, he probably couldn't be capable as a TE.

After reconsidering my initial thought of this actually happening,,,
Can Dez be more productive than Noah Brown?
Can Dez be less of a cap hit than Noah Brown?
That should be all we need to consider.

More productive? Falling out of bed!

Less of a cap hit? Unlikely, but I wouldn't think by a whole lot. I think Dez is looking for opportunity, not a payday.

If by some chance, he does think he'll make big bucks, it's "Adios Amigo!"

Bingo!

Dez brings a 'unique set of skills' that the others don't.
Yeah like he actually gives a crap.

I agree that became problematic at one point, but I doubt he will at this point get nuts on the sidelines when he isnt targeted.

I would bring him to camp for sure, and not for the story, and not to think he can be what he once was....but for someone who actually wants to win.

He is only 31. He can will himself into being one of the best WR4 in the league, he just needs to accept that role.

Anyone still remember the petulant sideline behavior? Disappearing in games? Bad routes? Drops?

This would be a waste of a roster spot. Lots of young talented WR's coming out of college every year. Use that spot to try and find a late round or FA diamond in the rough.
Excellent points, but it's not as though they would guarantee Dez anything. Bring him to camp and Dez will work his tail off. If a rookie beats him out then so be it.

I'm just looking for guys who care. The star attitude when they have never accomplished a thing other than cashing Jerry's checks irritates me.

In my personal opinion? Dez got jobbed out by some people in this organization. And screwed over far worse than he ever deserved. Done dirty.

That's not to say that he was simply a victim and without his own shortcomings and issues, he certainly was, and his actions played a part in why he was released. But once again, a player paid the price and was let go, while a coach (or coaches) continued to skate by, scott-free, with no consequences for the part that they played in the mess. Rather than effectively communicating with the player, things were yet again 'handled' through back channels and private meetings between other people. Because some people didn't have the guts to actually handle direct confrontation and difficult conversations. Much easier to go the third party route and stab people in the back than deal with them face to face.

Most of all, that's why I believe that things can work and be different this time with Dez:
  1. Because I think he's matured and realizes that this is his last shot, and he truly wants to return and perform well for the Cowboys
  2. I think we actually have strong coaching and structure in place, and people who will have the guts to clearly spell out what is expected
  3. Player relationships are a big deal under the new regime, with Asst Head Coach being hired for that job specifically. No more ambiguity or grey areas.

Not sure if this is posted but he and Mahomes are planning workouts this offseason. Who wanna bet KC is def an option for him. Especially if they cut Watkins......

It would be a smart move for the Super Bowl Champs to take a look at Dez too. Adding his skill set would be a great compliment to the weapons they already have. They can continue to outsmart the Cowboys and find value where we failed to.

He’s slowed down for sure but speed has never been his strength. As long as he can still win jump balls let’s do it...on a team-friendly contract of course.
Only a cap busting contract will do...LOL of course!

Exactly what evidence do you guys have that Dez can still win jump balls?

Dez is just a turd. The Cowboys already know they can't touch him without getting his crap spread everywhere. This is a nonsense thread topic being sustained by posters that love to spread crap.

Dez needed hard coaching and got wussified pleading.

Since he never worked his tail off before, what makes you think he'll suddenly start?

Absolutely he did. And people who didn't have the guts to tell him things to his face like men, but who talked about him behind his back. Dez wasn't perfect by any stretch, but at least he wasn't a coward either.

What "evidence" is required?
He couldn't any more the last time he played, so if people want to proclaim it, I'd ask why someone is saying it.

I could understand if someone said "Bring him in and see if he got his hops back". However, last time he played, he'd lost it.

Dez was a kid who needed help growing up, and instead got pacified and catered to.

I didn't see that to be any sort of 'absolute case'.

What "hops" are you referring to? That's pretty vague.
