Ok thanks for that. So let's completely ignore free agency entirely.

Every successful team has, yes? Please stop because that's not even close to true.

I get what you're saying to a degree, and sure you build your core through the draft, but are they a win now team or no?

You arent getting better defensively by hoping Kinlaw falls to you.

You arent getting better as a defense in 2020 from the draft alone.

If they have no ability one way or the other to add free agents and get better now, then they are rebuilding.

That's Jerry team for you, no man's land.

Either try to win now or rebuild, not some ridiculous in between scheme.
But that’s exactly what it is. You do a combination of both. This year they were hindered because they didn’t have a first round pick. They could’ve went a long way in fixing that unit had they been able to snag a starter in the first and at least a guy who can contribute in the 2nd. They were set up to do both. They then traded for Robert Quinn, signed Randall Cobb and a few tackles and traded for Martellus Bennett. This was a enough in free agency. They lacked the drafting starters part.

Show me a team that was built on free agency? Maybe I’m misunderstanding your point.

That post is 0 for 3. The window didn't close because this is one of the youngest teams in the league so even keeping the current players means they will improve with experience. The group was "good enough to win" but lost games mostly because of Special Teams and close games going against them. Special Teams last year cost us 2 wins, and we make the playoffs if they don't.

And saying we have no cap space is the biggest miss of that post, we have 74 Million available right now and can easily free up another 20 if they want to. Dallas could have 100 Million in cap room tomorrow if they wanted.
Thank you.

For the most part....they had a window....and it closed. They have to pay guys that didnt win...or start over.

So....pay the group that wasnt good enough to win with...and theres no cap room to add what's needed.
Cowboys have cap room. Even after they sign Dak and Coop.

LOL......Like I said in another thread, Dak's going need some thick skin once his deal is signed. It's going to get ugly, brutal and downright nasty at times. I hope he's ready.......

40 would be stupid that snot the issue thats number thrown out to desensitize us to 34-36 none of those worm eithers Daks not a QB due for that number..take the 30-33 and move forward..stop Downplaying 40 so we feel good about 35-36/..no it wont feel good..

What works in there favor is that Daks agent want to cash in again in a few years so he wants a short term deal.

Still remains to be seen that him betting on himself is actually a good strategy for him. What the Cowboys need to do now is franchise him and open the storage bin and stuff it with draft capital for 2021 or 2022 so they can trade up for a real QB.

That would require a team to give up those picks to get him.

NOOOO.......I mention this in another thread. I think his contract will be the beginning of a correction of the QB market.

I've been waiting for the correction on the QB market for years. Change in pay requires change in strategy. Churn running QBs. Spend picks and roster spots on them. Developing QBs should be a primary focus.

Wouldn't surprise me if this deal is already done on a handshake but Jerry told Dak, we gotta drag this out as long as possible for maximum press, so keep stirring the pot until we make it "official"

Dak is stressed out over whether he'll make 30 or 40 million dollars.

I'm stressed out over trying to make $3000 or $4000 dollars, and I call that $1000 extra dollars good change.

Handing out all that Free Chunky soup on his day off better lead to something......

Fair skepticism but Stephen, McClay and Jerry built a formidable team for Romo around Romo's record breaking contract.

It makes it harder...but I think Dak's draft pick if deal is complete makes the pick arguably the greatest ever along side Romo's free agent signing.

We just need the 3rd equal branch to function competently... Coaching

Greatest pick this team ever made, IMO, is either the Herschel Walker pick in the 5th round or the 85 Draft, for many reasons or more probably, Rodger Staubach in the 10th round of the 64 Draft but that's just my opinion. There are others, such as Rayfield Right in the 7th round who would go on to become a HOF player, Bullet Bob Hayes, also a 7th round pick and also a HOF player.

Certainly not impossible though. If Dak is able to work out, then he would be right up there but he's going to have to accomplish a lot to be better then any of these players IMO.

He is average so a team is gonna give up 1st round picks for him. Lol.

He is average and no team will give up a significant pick for him. He wants way over his true value, ( not inflated market value) and the only Owner that might buy that product is Jerry

BTW, why isn't there a contract signed yet?.................

There will be a contract. Maybe around the draft. Or combine. JJ needs some spot light. Lol

I don't care if he's asking for $40 million or "only" $36-38 million. That's a lot of money for a QB that hasn't done anything more than win a division title.

Yes, it takes a supporting cast - QBs don't win championships on their own - but a huge QB contract only makes that a harder task. I'm skeptical.

If you thought the Dak Boyz were incessant before, just wait until Dak signs for $40M+ and they feel the need to justify the contract and make excuses for him after every poor performance, lol.

Again, the backward management of publicly saying they are committed to him, yet expecting a break in negotiations.

Just pay the guy or dont. They always have to wait until damage is done then give in anyway.
